Alan Richardson (family friend), British featherweight champ in the 70's. I sparred him when he was in training for the Picket fight in 1977, a favour to give me the experience. I was 16 years old, much heavier than him and actually had him down...i'd backed onto the ropes and caught him with a big ( :yep )cuffing right hand as he moved in, to be fair he was way off balance, and he did knock the **** out of me after. :deal
 The Socialist party send candidates our way most of the time, but most people in LS11 aren't clever enough to realise that a socialist govt. would benefit nearly all of them who prefer to sit on their ass bringing up a dozen kids Tory all the way me.... everything I have I have worked bloody hard for - that should be the case for everyone. Back to the boxing.......
I had Monroe one up with one even round... Thought the two 116-112 scorecards were a bit too generous in a fight that could have gone close either way. Bloody good fight however.
I've worked and earned reasonably well since I was 16 (I'm 40 now) but I'm a big believer that you should put proportionally back into a society what you take out. But maybe thats an argument for a non-boxing thread???
That's the key word - and it's not an argument..... I totally agree with that. :good But everyone should be expected to pay in. If you don't pay in, you should expect nothing in return.
Some people, for varying reasons, are unable to pay in (disabled, random ****ups/ lazy ****s etc) but they should be supported to a certain quality of life. To me, thats just part of the deal of living in a society, I pay for schools I don't attend, libraries I don't use more than a couple of times a year. It isn't always fair when you look at who is paying what to support whom but it makes for a better society to live in IMHO. And you never know, life could take a cruel turn and you could end up needing a helping hand off the state.....
The Lib Dems could promise you that they'll give you your own bodyweight in gold every year as a tax refund if they got into power. Its easy to make promises when you know you'll never have to fullfill them!!
