I am watching the British version of the Pacquiao/Cotto fight. The commentators are amazing in this. I remember listening to these same guys in a Youtube video of the Pac/Hatton fight. The play by play guy has perfect dramatic timing, and the guy with the goofy accent has just the right commentary given the tide of the fight and what he sees from the fighters. He sees the fight and calls the shots from the fighters point of view perfectly.

Who are these guys? What is the history of the color commentator?

Its Ian Drake, But the other guy is Jim Watt. I like Ian Drake, but Watt is horrendous especially when it comes to scoring the fight.

Where can you watch the Top Rank broadcast with their announcers in the US without having to wait for youtube? BTW, Top Rank's camera angles puts HBO's camera angles to shame! With Top Rank, it seems like you are sitting closer to the fight, while it seems like you are 20 rows back with HBO.

i didn't hear the UK commentators, but HBO ones were **** and ruined the second half of the fight. They just stopped calling the action, wittered on Pac fighting Mayweather, and kept repeating the fight was over even when Cotto was landing flush shots on Pac in the middle to late rounds.

Who actually watches the Top Rank broadcast? May'be it's because I live in America, but I don't think I have ever seen a fight that isn't an HBO PPV and it has the promotional company broadcast.

You download it from the Internet because you don't want to wait another week to rewatch the fight.

I like Sky, just find they are biased towards British fighters. But they were great doing fights like Oscar-Mayweather, and I'm sure just as good doing Pac-Cotto. As long as there are no British fighters, they are ok.

American Top Rank commentators are crap though. That Von Tempo guys sucks big time. and his side kick with the Italian name ain't much better. Every card I've seen with these guys commentating all they do is bag fighters from start to finish like bitter old men. They are so negative and are dull as hell, often sounding like they don't want to be, when they have the best seats in the house.

I remember once they Von Tempo and that Mariatto guy, or whatever his name is, both said they wished either Zab Judah or his opponent would get injured so they'd have to not only leave the ring, but the stadium as they thought they were stinking up the joint. These guys are supposed to be professional. When Mario Lopez, who is more like a fan boy, is probably their best commentator, that says it all.

It depends though, Doug Fischer and Al Bernstien commentate for Top Rank from time to time. Try looking for the Top Rank/Setanta version for Pac-Diaz. I believe that was Dougie's latest stint. Pretty good insights...

They aren't just biased to British fighters. Mayweather/Marquez was appalling commentary. Jim Watt was awful for that fight.
