It's worth the time to track down those Ahumada fights. That guy was really a lot to handle in that 73-76 timeframe but really hasn't stood the test of time too well. I always liked the work Gil Clancy did back then with Ahumada and Valdez back then and nobody was in for an easy nights work signing to fight those guys.
Mcguigan v Taylor was a very good study of how great Barry was technically, he was outstanding.. he cut the ring off and overwealmed Bernard. Frazier v Ali 2 was the fight that never got the hype the 1st and 3rd did, but it was still very action packed. Barry was a solid champ and never avoided anyone, Azumah Nelson was going to be down the line but for some reason both fighters had a lot of hard fights going on simultaneously... Eventually after Barry beat Laporte and Cabrera , cruz came along and outlasted Mcuighan in the desert heat...........
Thanks for the insight Bigcat. I'd seen Pedroza - Taylor and expected Taylor to give McGuigan a lot of trouble. His abillity to cut off the ring against Taylor must have been superb and that's exactly why I want to see it. Barry was very good during his relatively short prime.
was at the fight at the back of the Kings hall when mcGuigan hit taylor with a body shot in the 7th i think, and i swear i almost felt it myself. It completely knocked the fight outta Taylor, who was giving barry a bit of a lesson at the time. Funnily enough, im pretty sure Taylor said the heat was a big factor
I hve highlights of the Montanan fight that RB gave me also i havent seen some fighters like Koaker Galaxy Orlando Canizales Happy Lora
ill try find it, you speak highly of Williams so he must be pretty good and the little bits i have seen he impressed
Win means nothing pac too fast for 5 foot 3 midget Saldivar at featherweight KO's both on same night.
Michael Spinks - Eddie Mustafa Muhammed I really want to see this one but will wait until i can get a nice copy of it.
