Kessler only lost to Calzaghe because of Calzaghe's ability to change style and adapt mid-fight. Kessler is a solid boxer with great power, although I agree that he has trouble with unconventional/slick styles.

If Ward did genuinely win by anything other than a cut from a clash of heads or something silly I'd be seriously impressed.

 

Normally I get pissed when I see the typical UK baiting US thread, but in this case I think you're honest (and correct) because there are a lot of people very confident of Ward on here and it's totally beyond me.

Ward was a guy being pushed from his debut because he won a gold medal, but the networks stopped caring as soon as he shown to be hurt and knocked down very very early in his career. He went from the most promising of the three Andres to the chinny guy nobody paid any attention to. Only now is his career interesting again after beating Miranda.

He's got skills, but the logical pick is Kessler. Maybe he wins, but I don't know how anyone can be so certain of it when we've never seen him up against this kind of skill. We've seen Kessler and we know what he's capable of and he's very, very good.

Ward is more of a West Coast fighter. Not everyone is behind him. And Kessler is winning this easily. Its actually a mismatch. So stop acting like Ward is the favorite. Stupid Euros.

 

I don't see this as a mismatch at all. This is the toughest matchup for Kessler in this tournament in my opinion. It should be a close fight.

Your post has exposed you as a guy who hasn't seen much or any of kessler. Comes in straight like he normally does? Kess has some of the most subtle feints and offense in the game, and he's very relaxed in the ring. It's ward who is figgety and without a gameplan. Does well against sluggers. He had to chase mundine( who's as fast and punches as hard as ward) around a ring for 12 with a bad back, and still won. Mundine is anything but a slugger. Also, markus beyer was strictly a quick counter puncher. Albeit a slow one, but not a stand in one place slugger. Siaca, andrade are both as good as punchers as miranda and with better chins,
but you see what kess did to them. Ward just outboxed miranda while losing some rounds. Ward is good, but kessler's great. you'll find that out tonight.

That's what i've been telling the muppets on this board. But leave it to a country that bought a house based on the fact they KNEW it was going to double in value. Just like they KNOW ward will beat kessler. Based on nothing more than hope. the logical points to kessler all day long.

Yeah, I agree Kessler will KO Ward before the opening bell . . . WTF Ward just schooled Kessler . . . hahaha. I had Kessler as the slight fav in the super six followed closely by AA and Ward. I only saw one of wards fights until tonight but now I think he take it all. AA style is made for him, JT is done, Froch is a not in his class, Dirrel could give him some trouble style wise.
