I believe weight drain was a part of it but also the bigger problem was the wrong game plan. Is obvious Cotto didn't look his biggest in the ring, even in his fights at 140 him entering the ring look bigger when he enter the ring against Manny. The timing of the fight was wrong, and when you have people that represent you like Bob Arum who is favoring and praising your opponent was all bad signs. At the end of the day Cotto should blame himself for all this and being selfish and mad at the world for no reason. Sometimes you need someone to bring you into a reality check and thats what Cotto got and deserve in that fight. You could clearly tell what Cotto's motives were even him chosing his entrance song from Daddy Yankee. The lyrics of the song pretty sum up that Cotto is going trough a lot esp. in his personal life.

Propaganda so that when the fight doesn't happen
all the backlash will fall Arums direction.

    And 1 pound difference
with the amount of time they had to prepare is nothing. Cotto wasn't weight drained at all. It was the 12 rounds of body shots and the blows to the head that did all that.
I re-watched the fight last night and probably will again after Kessler vs Ward tonight.
Cotto landed some good shots. Specially left hooks to the head. The one in the 2nd or 3rd round that made Pac cover for a moment was a bomb. I suspect it started the damage to the ear. Lucky Pac moved with the punch.

    Floyd Sr should be reprimanded
by boxing officials for the detrimental statements he has been making.

Sr should stfu. He makes his son look bad. Roach does this for Pac too. Although Roach is not as ridiculous, and degrading, he has his moments. Sr is just absolute garbage.

The whole point of the fight being at 145lbs was to make Cotto weaker, drain him, sap his stamina, sap his power. Now it was only 2lbs so it didnt hurt him that much but it may have had a slight affect. Pacquaio obviously wins at any weight though

BTW FMS is saying this to give his son more leverage in negotiations

pac did win fair and square but it does seem that he wants to fight everyone at a catch weight imo

Not necessarily man. The point is mostly to prevent the other fighter from blowing up and come in to the fight much heavier than the naturally smaller guy. It's not a given that Cotto was gonna be drained, and he didn't really look it. Could it have been a small subtle weakening that for the most part went unnoticed to the eye? who knows. It was 1 pound less than his fight with Clottey.

However I do think the fight should have been at 147 and really hope the Mayweather fight is at that weight. Even though with Floyd I think a catchweight would make perfect sense, that is if Floyd truly believe he's still not a full welter and is actually better at a few pounds less.

Like I say I doubt it made that much difference, but we know how dead at the weight Cotto was at 140 as he comes down from around 180lbs, getting him down to 145 meant he wasnt quite 100%, maybe 95% or so, maybe he was as good as he would have been at 147, we dont know, it detracts a little from the win but not much.

Anyway here is hoping there is no more BS catch weights, I don't think Floyd can do below 147 after 2years off

I think me and you are the only ones that know why Floyd retired. He was on a colission course with Cotto thats why. after he saw what Cotto did against 2 very fast fighters in Mosley and judah Floyd was outta there . What a straight *****.
