    If you want to say "Kessler is/was overrated", that's one thing.

    If you want to say "A lot of Calzaghe fans disingenuously hype Kessler to make their guy look better", that's one thing.

    You said The only reason people hold (or pretend to hold) Kessler in such high regard is to legitimize their claims on how great Calzaghe was.

    I'm someone who holds Kessler in high regard (even still) yet I don't have any Calzaghe-related agenda. So sorry if that doesn't fit in your little cookie-cutter deduction!

    Alot of people are claiming Ward is borderline top10 p4p right now. I would say those people all hold Kessler in high regard. Or else what do they base that claim on?

    I think we have to make a distinction here. Genuine Kessler fans like yourself rated him, rightly so because he's a decent fighter, but Calzaghe fans made him out to be a top 10 P4Per and placed Calzaghe's win over Kessler as legacy-defining.

    There were always a few questions over Kessler and if he really merited the hype, and I think today some of them have been answered.

    To get a good idea one would have to wait for the entire tournament to be played out, after which we'll know who really stands where. It's still open at the moment, anybody can take it.

    Lacy's fans were hyping him up beforehand, not Calzaghe's. Same with Kessler's fans. I can't see how other people hyping other fighters implies a cooordinated effort by Calzaghe fans to make their guy look better than he is.
