Credit to this topic goes to poster AngloSaxon.

As I've expressed in a few other threads, the fight between Kessler and Ward sucked and was marred by Ward's headbutting and clinching, as well as the ref's embarrassing bias and the stoppage of the fight.

Andre Ward was the better fighter tonight, even if his and the ref's tactics robbed Mikkel Kessler of an honest chance to win down the stretch and left a bad taste in fans' mouths.

That said, and given that Kessler was the lesser man tonight, the question then becomes:

Nope. He did however provide the blueprint. Kessler has poor upper body movement and is like a magnet for a good jab, which throws off his rhythm and timing. He also doesnt like to be swarmed. Ward swarmed him just like calzaghe did not allowing him to use his long arms and speed.

No. Inactivity for the last couple of years may have taken it's toll though. Either way, Ward made him look like a vegetable tonight.

Without doubt he did, an undefeated boxer is never the same after their loss, mentally he was destroyed.

Balls did he. Calzaghe hardly did serious damage to Kessler, he slapped him around a bit but it was nothing that would bother him long term. Whether it affected his psyche, thats more of a possibility.

However, you have to put into perspective Mikkel had 2 years out of the game and then fought a few average opponents before coming up against a multi-dimensional and talented opponent tonight.

Which of the above is likely to be more relevant in Kessler's own performance?

Too many biased Americans trolling this thread.

Calzaghe ruined him, mentally, then his 2yr lay off, and all the wars he'd been in prior.

If Ward didn't headbutt, kessler would have won, and if Calzageh never faced Kessler, Ward wouldn't have had a gameplan.

    These are facts.

No. Kessler had 3 fights after JC and he won all of them by T/KOs. Someone who is ruined cannot do that kind of thing. The problem with Kessler's 3 opponents is that they are not top tier opponents. Once Kessler stepped up the plate (Ward), he was exposed as who he really is. Someone who is good, but not good enough to be called an elite fighter.
