Not if he does it in retaliation.

Difference is Hatton could have done anything he wanted with that corrupt ref, im pretty sure Hatton could have suplexed him and be let off. That wasnt a boxing match, it was WWE.

Oh hell yes. Headbutting, holding A LOT and then hitting.... Ward does whatever he has to do to win.

Although to be fair he probably would've won the fight even without all those nasty little tactics. Kessler really looked like **** in there.

Kessler was the one getting warned for holding last night. He could have responded by attempting to injure Ward's arm in a clinch, stick a headbutt on Ward which could stop the fight, or even stick a low blow or two in there.

He then comes away as a a dirty AND outclassed fighter who resorts to cheating and is subsequently DQ'd.

There would be no justification as Tyson found out agaisnt Holyfield. The ref was weak and didn't pick up on Ward's tactics.

The vote shows it all - Ward tarnished what proberbly still would have been a victory with his dirty trics and cheating. Actually a big shame, as Ward showed he is a great fighter last night - unfortunatly he also showed that he is "no son of God" in the ring - he is more like "the son of Hopkins" - and that is not meant as a compliment!

But what else can you do? just take it?
Kessler can't come away as dirty if Ward cheated as much/more & initiated it. People can say what they want, there's video evidence.

I disagree, because according to this poll, there are some amongst us that feel Ward didn't use tactics that were untoward, so in their eyes it's not retaliation, it's cheating.

I think ward did cheat and that has tarnished his win but kessler cheated himself by not trying to adapt in the fight, not taking advantage of the various times he had ward in the corners durin the early rounds etc etc

if you know the guy is cheating (look at the slow-mo of the round 10 headbutt) and he is getting away with it you have to step up to the plate and show what you got. Kessler started to a little butit was too late by then

Well, I don't know what he could have done, I just don't think cheating back is the only answer.

I remember when Danny Williams was being beaten by Airich and had the ref against him, as well as the promoter who blatantly rung the bell a minute early when his man was in trouble.

Williams was able to win against all the odds without cheating and ended up stopping his man a few rounds later. Now, obviously Kessler just wasn't good enough to pull it off, but he has the rest of the tournament to gain retribution. His legacy may well have been tarnished if he was thrown out for cheating.

Ward fought dirty but Kess should have dealt with it!!

Ward surprised me, he looks the special one out of the entire tourney. Kessler doesnt lose round to get whios, out sped, out manouvred like he did Ward would have to be summin special!
