It's true though....Wards win is tainted.
The headbutts were part of his plan and clearly intentional.

I wish everyone would quit the American/European stereotypes. What does it matter where someone is from, or where a fighter is from?

Ward was rough on the inside and careless with his head, but that's boxing. Ward won because he outboxed Kessler (and I'm English).

i'm from another planet. and from where I am, I could see clearly the intentional headbutts. No doubt Ward dominated Kessler but headbutting is uncalled for!

If it's tolerated then we might as well tell floydie and the pacman to add headbutting on their offense/defense arsenal

I'm from America, the fight was embarrassing, Ward cheated and the victory is tainted.

Ward was the better guy last night, but his blatant and repetitive fouling caused Kessler's cuts and affected the outcome of the fight. Ward likely would have won the bout anyways, but the bout became a farce as it went into the second half and the ref, unbelievably, was more concerned with Kessler's tactics than Ward's.

You have to understand something though: Many American fight fans are looking for a young, undefeated fighter they can get behind. So they're willing to look beyond Ward's shameful methods. It's just a nationalist/ethnic pride kind of thing, not very unexpected and not the first or last time one country/group will overlook a fighter's methods in order to trump up their country/group.

There is a perceived dearth of American boxing talent right now. For the American crowd, Ward is a life preserver in the sea. That he defeated Kessler makes him even more heroic for this crowd.

 

Not to get in the middle of this debate but the referee seriously didn't belong in that ring !

Not to be disrespectful, but he was slow to brake fighters away and certainly didn't seem in command.

When quick fighters are in the ring, I don't understand how you can put an old slow man that doesn't keep up the pace....

 

When you Brits admitt that Froch was out classed then maybe we can talk headbutts !!
