No because Kessler was never a TOP fighter anyway
just a decent champion (CARLOS QUINTANA LEVEL)

....he became overhyped on boards liek this with homo nutthuggers who wanted a blonde blue eyed boy who could beat everyone...Sorry but doesnt happen in boxing...might happen when you have a clever promoter like PALLE... he tried to promote Kessler as the DANISH OSCAR DE LA HOYA...

problem for Kessler is OSCAR can actually fight and is world class...you can get away witht that with 2nd tier guys like Andrade, Lucas, beyer ROFL

sorry but I TOLD YOU SO!!

Last night Kessler's real problems started in the 2nd round when Ward hit him a a vicious and clearly intentional head butt. Ward caught Kessler flush on the right cheek bone with the front portion of the top of his head, and from that pint on, fouled with impunity. No way in hell was that an accident. I'm appalled by the number of posters in this forum who are willing to turn a blind eye to blatant cheating.

Calzaghe exposed him not ward. Calzaghe laid the blueprint, and Ward capitalised on it. Ward is great, but i still think a prime Calzaghe edges him.

kessler is still a very very good world class fighter, these guys are just something else.

No. You can ruin someone by handling them beatings of their life, like he did to Lacy but that bout with Kessler was competitive and not gruesome, Calzaghe simply outpointed him winning more rounds. Kessler's problem wuth Ward was inactivity.

Probably because it didn't. The amount of revisionism that happens on here even one day after ANY big fight is astounding. Kessler's problems in the fight started the minute he got into the ring without ANY gameplan other than assuming that Ward would wilt the first time Kessler hit him with anything serious.

Kessler looked slow, confused, unmotivated, perplexed, and generally out of his element from the first bell on. No excuse for a champion to come into a big fight like that. Ward wanted his belt and he took it, and Kessler had no resistance to offer.

Ok, fair enough. But what about stealing a fighter's confidence and belief that he can't be beaten?

Calzaghe shattered that in Kessler's mind, easily handling Kessler after the 4th round or so. Can that have an effect? It seemed to have one on Mike Tyson after Buster Douglas stood up to him.

No, I don't think Calzaghe ruined Kessler.

I think Kessler's inactivity and lack of quality opponents after the Calzaghe fight is what he suffered from against Ward.

There is the possibility that he has not bounced back confidence-wise from the Calzaghe loss...

It can but not in this case. Kessler took that loss very well. He was all smiles in the post fight interview. He fought a legend, won some rounds and gained experience.

Finally, seriously, the guy wasnt that good to begin with, i dont understand how someone can be rated so highly just because they looked ok in defeat.
