Muhammed Ali's resume means sweet **** all, in fact it's padded with bums - proof:

Ali lost to Trevor Berbick who lost to Mike Tyson who lost to Kevin McBride who lost to Andrew Golota who just lost to a career LHW/CW in his first fight at HVY :deal

Seriously guys, I mean this sincerely :yep

To be fair, the Mayweather-Castillo and Kessler-Calzaghe argument are very different.

Castillo was a proven champ at the time of fighting Mayweather. Considered number 1 lightweight.

Kessler was unproven at the time of fighting Calzaghe. He was a champ, but not THE champ. Similar to Lacy, really. Unproven, and at the "elite" level, untested.

Question - if Kessler were to go on to become an ATG, would that improve Calzaghe's legacy?

With Kessler and Lacy the best wins on his resume (and Hopkins and Jones the best "names"), his legacy isn't in the BEST of shape with Kessler losing and Lacy proving to be a never was.

Well I think most people appreciate that Castillo's best days were long gone and he was also fighting out of his best weight class.

Are you saying that when Kessler met Ward he was way past his best and shot?

No, I'm not saying that at all.

Are you saying fighting Sartison, Haussler and Perdomo over 2 years means Kessler was active and in shape?

Maybe you're going to tell me that Kessler was actually prime vs Ward but green vs Calzaghe

What about when Hatton fought Tszyu Joni boy? Hmm? Who was in their prime in that fight? :think

no no no, bad way to think about this :bart

because some guy beat some guy he already beat in a (probably) more decisive fashion?

Let's just do PBF (there's countless examples though)
But seriously do we really want to start this argument? because Tszyu knocked zab flat on his face in 2 but floyd pot-shotted his way to a close but clear victory, Hatton KO'd JLC with a body shot while floyd had 2 tough fights with him, pacman destroyed Oscar and Hatton while Floyd had trouble with Oscar and took like 9 (more? dont feel like looking it up) to KO hitman.

I mean really, by this logic PBF has accomplished almost nothing and doesnt even deserve a top 10 lb for lb ranking.

Oh, so Castillo was the only one you were able to debate?

But at the same time you were still able to find a way to criticise Calzaghe in there - and you're posting under the guise of 'being fair'?

Ricky has had an awesome career...his lone 2 losses came to the best in the world at the time....I think Joe retired with challenges still at hand...Bad Chad for example...maybe Joe is waiting for someone to "lure" him out

You can repeat that all day, but few are going to think it. I've seen guys from the classic forum posting the same: Joe's legacy was affected last night.

Great, so I assume you appreciate that Tszyu's best days were long gone.

Why is the Tszyu fight such a major win on Hatton's record then :think

Can you point me in the direction of the fight that shows his days were "long gone"? Thanks

You are sounding more and more sheeplike with each post:

"Um ah, yeah...it must be true, like I say, because uh, other people are saying the same thing, and um, ah, because what they're saying fits in with my hatred of Calzaghe, um, ah, I'm gonna say it too, just in a less convincing manner because I um, ah, can't think for myself."

Joni boy, I hope you also put as much credence into the words of everyone who claimed Hatton is/was a nobody :hey

You make the mistake thinking that I think Hatton some Great sort of fighter, I don't.

I just happen to have far, far more respect for him for fighting the likes of Floyd, and Pac than I ever do for Joe - who in my opinion never truly tested himself and gave far too much priority and importance to his precious 0.

Sure, the one on 4th June 2005, at the M.E.N Arena in Manchester :deal

Surely you can't seriously claim that Tszyu was close to prime, having had only 3 fights in 3 years when he fought Hatton? :think
