One of my Favorite Fighters was the Smooth Lefty name Derrick "Smoke" Gainer. I thought he had all the tools. Slick, fast, Great Feet and Head Movement...

But IMO, tried way too much to BRAWL AND SLUGG with fighters....when He had the skill to simply OUTBOX them!!!

Theres a fighter who is a great...and has beaten great fighters, and only lost to 3 other people...but if he had Nazim Richardson in his corner earlier in his career...i do believe he could be unbeaten...its Shane Mosley

Shane Mosley has all the tools, few fightes had the physical gifts he has, but one thing i would say he lacked was tactical awareness in some of his fights,

he tried to blast people out, and most of the time he was successful

but i think now that he has a real tactician in his corner...he will still knock people out, but it will be done a lot more efficiently and slickly

sorry i realise he hasnt ruined his career at all...i know you want fighters who ruined thier career... but i just feel that even at this age he could sweep the division and push himself even further the all time rankings

    Come on, one impresive win?

I think Mosely just found two guys in Forrest and WInky Wright who were bigger and he couldnt overwhelm and they were better pure boxers. Shane has never really been a boxer, those type of guys would always give him fits. I dont see this as a tactical thing. Having said that he boxed very well against a much younger slick boxer against Collazo so he can really box.

Shane can box but he's a slugger first and foremost. The problem with the Winky and Forrest was both guys were too big for Shane to outslug. That said Forrest benefited tremendously from the clash of heads in the first fight and Shane who doesnt move his head much just couldnt evade Winkys rapier jab. As much as size was an issue it was a clear clash of styles.

Gatti wins this one. Gatti was an EXCELLENT boxer. Now im not going to lie his fights were the stuff of legends in my eyes. He put it on the line every time. But when Buddy McGuirt turned him around thats when i really started to pay attention to his boxing skills. He achieved much in this sport and someday will be in the HOF. But who knows in retrospect could he have achieved that much more as a boxer rather than a slugger?

Riddick Bowe. More talented than Holyfiled or Lewis, in my humble opinion. Great jab, great chin, good inside fighter for a big man. No work ethic. And he fought inside way too much. In all honesty, he could have shut holyfield out if had just stayed on the outside and used the jab. But Bowe was a hothead. Any time he got hit, he just instinctively started brawling. That definitely cost him the second fight (along with his poor training habits) and it undoubtedly shortened his career.

Zab Judah - insistence on trying to bomb people, especially at the higher weights
Jermain Taylor - getting away from the piston-like jab and trying to fight in the Kronk style
Naseem Hamed - Refusal to learn/work on even basic boxing fundamentals
Jason 'Chinny' Litzau - kid should have boxed waaay more than slug

The Ingle style is based on being un-orthodox, boxing fundamentals and the Ingle style don't mix.
