The guy is showing you something that every fighter should practice.
    And thats bobbing and weaving.
For beginners , one exagerates the moves.
Now this guys problem is that he doesnt look the part and that makes him vulnerable from cheaps shots from the peanut gallery.

Shoudler low, no hip movement, ditto legs.

Also he tells us to step into the jab, which is wrong and totally defeats the point of it. I understandgoing in and out of range makes sense bu you do not step into a jab.

I don't step in on every jab but I do every once in a while. He shows a jab, not the jab, but a possible jab. There's a big difference between how Mike Tyson jabbed and how Sugar Ray Leonard or Mike McCallum did it. There's more than one way to throw a jab.

He showed us how to jab. Youd pick up bad habits watching that, the shoudler is low and its just an arm punch.

It's not just an arm punch if you step into it because that adds bodyweight. A jab shouldn't always be full power either.

Don't step into a jab? That's to say that EVERY time you jab that your opponent is right on the end of it, which is not a very realistic expectation. A step while jabbing can put an opponent just out of reach right on the end of your jab without reaching or just stepping in behind nothing. There is no need to step if the person is right there on the end of it. Plus what do you think you do when you double/triple the jab? You usually have to step because they're giving ground going straight back avoiding the first jab.

There are so many different ways to jab: up jab, power jab, range finder, blinding/diversionary jab. For beginners(which are who these videos are made to target) I'd much rather focus on a few mechanical fundamentals that will make the jab very effective and prevent bad flaws that will have to be corrected later on. For example:
    • Throw the jab from eye level and return it to eye level(especially helps when learning to jab to the body) with snap and quickness. Trains speed and defense
    • Extend arm all the way out so that the shoulder protects the chin(for whatever stance you jab from)
    • Turn fist all the way over at the end of the jab
    • Push off rear foot and don't lean upperbody or end with a widened stance after throwing the jab
Those keypoints should be the main focus with beginners. Once mastered then jab variations can be taught. More detailed techniques can be given to put more power efficiently behind the jab without simply whipping your arm out more forcefully(using the hips and legs with the rear foot planted on the ball of the foot, and the weight distribution rear to front at least 60-40)

There are alot of people out there trying to do something for this sport.
    Your not one of them.
So you have nothing better to do than throw cheap shots.
It appears that you are indeed a ****ing *******.

I liked how you guys critiqued the video of the guy's jab, and I am politely asking you guys to also break down the flaws you see in the other videos that you post. As opposed to just saying, "Peep this video, this dude sucks." This would be of great help to newbies, such as myself, trying to learn the sweet science.

    Hello Rodney,

I'm a licenced professional boxing coach, an ex/future professional fighter- who was in the top ten in the UK, a championship class amateur, a qualified fitness instructor and a studying personal training student. I also do some boxing journalism for Boxrec and local papers.

I train groups of kids twice a week and groups of adults 3 times a week plus I have over 20 personal training clients- who I actually teach how to box- properly. I don't pretend- I study and question everything I do.

These frauds are a waste of time and would be better served teaching MMA. I take it your one of the idiots in the video- perhaps we could catch up for some sparring and I could show you how to box properly. Indeed.

    :thumbsup
