there was a good article in the ring saying the sturm offer shows hbo think less of him now and wonder if he is dependable. His reign has been bad but injuries have been bad.Plus his inactivity has allowed a other names to arrive in the division. His supersix comments did **** me off

What do you mean 'what is he supposed to do' when HBO offer 2.5 million dollars for a fight with Sturm? Take the bloody fight, that's what! It's a unification fight and a legitimate fight against a top ten MW. These are the people he should be fighting if he wants to stay around at middleweight, and that should be considered big money for the stage of his career he's at and considering his realistic market value at this time.

We're not discussing what Sturm would or would not do? I've no idea whether he'd want the fight or not. Pavlik certainly should be looking for it.

No. he has defended the belts twice on mandated challengers and was then diagnosed with a dealy, life threatening staph infection. He seems to have overcome the infection and we see him doing a tune up fight before he calls out a big name. Hes going slow but at least he is going.

Boxing fans are extremely fickle, but fickle has an up-side. It means that KP is one or two good wins away from the same status he had in the spring of 2008.

The word from some insiders is that Pav wants to fight 3 times next year. He still wants Williams, Sturm, and Bute.

I really beleive 2010 will be even better than '07. Pavlik will be busy doing this:

yes we are, that was a big part of my post. 2.5 and sturm will not come here to do it (and after odlh i don't blame him) so it would have to be in germany. why would kelly want to go there when he can make twice as much facing an atg (which is where this whole debate started...w/ kelly fighting bhop as opposed to a title defense at mw). sturm makes just as much fighting season 1 american idol rejects so why would he accept it? he is going to lose.

brother, i would love to see him fight sturm. i would love for him to do it in germany too. but when hbo made that offer, i can see why he said no and i can see why sturm didnt even make a peep about it. that amount is an insult to both fighters.

I'm disappointed over the past year or so, but 90% of the crap was totally beyond KP's control. I doubt if he planned on a life threatening staph infection.

However, people who say they're disappointed in his "title riegn" ought to take note of the fact that it ain't over.

As far as this Espino fight goes, it's pretty simple; the WBC and WBO threatened to strip KP, so he took a fight with a ranked contender that he can probably beat with one good hand. That's a lot different from trying to fight Williams with one good hand.

It wasn't $2.5 mill. It was $2 million flat. Hopefully after KP decimates PWilly, HBO will step up and offer a realistic amount for a unification fight.

damn, boo, that's even worse. thought it was 2.5 for some reason. but i agree, hopefully hbo does finally step up b/c its gonna take hbo a lot to get sturm to agree to have take his strap.
