Excellent boxer, should have went down as `greater` tho, he had a very good career but not what his talent deserved.
Curry, Starling, Barkley, Kalambay, Tate and Roldan sounds great on paper. Then you have a look and see that Curry and Starling were past it Welterweights, and Roldan was sure enough at the end too. Still, his wins over Kalambay and Tate cemented his position as failed potential...because he was spectacular at that time. The opening clips in that video was one of his earlier bouts, and he boxed the **** out of him. Great hand speed, wonderful foot work. He'd make Kelly Pavlik look silly, and would probably dominate at Light Heavyweight if he was around today.
Thats one of thebiggest misconceptions being floated around on ESB. Watch the fight again, Toney was having sucess with the left hand all night. Sure, Nunn was proberly winning but it was competitive.
He only said he was getting beat up in the clips I included...which is true enough. I agree though, there is a misconception regarding the fight. I had Michael about two rounds up.
Thats a highlight reel of Michael Nunn, course its going to show Toney getting beat on. It annoys me when people act like Toney was losing every round and got some lucky punch on Nunn. He was hurting Nunn throughout the fight, and breaking him down slowly.
I know it's a highlight reel...I made it. Nunn was winning the fight going into the 11th on my scorcard.
They have to necessarily be fanboys because they have an opinion? I agree Nunn was barely winning if at all going into the 11ht.
