Calzaghe retired undefeated, but Charles beats almost any man below the HW limit.

I think Conn is underated head to head. Guy was a demon.

Poll i sunfair to Calzaghe. It's like asking if Pacquio could beat Monzon. Keep going in this direcction and we'll wind up with Willy Pep vs. Primo Canera.

No its not. This isn't an issue of size, it's an issue of superior attributes; Calzaghe has none against Charles.

Yeah, he is and was on both counts. Other than not having a true KO punch, he was a bloody marvel. Talk about being thrown in at the deep end aswell at the start of his career and his subsequent record (I refuse to use the word 'resume') :bart. Krieger, Young Corbett III, Apostoli, Yarosz, Bettina, Lesnevich, Zivic, Risko, Dundee, Pastor, Savold etc etc. And a knats knacker away from beating maybe the greatest heavyweight of time.

Conn vs Charles would've made more sense.

Joe wants to be considered one of the greats so he (I'm sure) expects people like us to consider him in these fantasy fights. The fact that he hasn't fared too well thus far is predictable. He WAS a tremendous champion (And his career will be viewed more favourably in the passage of time) but he was never as good as he believed he was and I believe that (For whatever reason) we never truly saw the best of him. That is what is so damned frustrating about Joe Calzaghe!!! And I can't be the only one who thinks this, surely? As for him fighting Charles, well I have to bow to reason! Charles by mid round ko.

The major factor imo here is that Charles is comfortable fighting at the advanced pace Calzaghe likes to set.

Charles is at a different level, but Joe is no mug, and is cute and tough enough to go the distance, maybe even sneaking a few rounds.

its ridiculous to overlook the advantages a modern fighter (especially just being bigger) has while pointing out the disadvantages.
