    Salvador Sanchez arguably never reached his prime. Perhaps he was already at it when he died though.

    Holyfield was the greatest cruiserweight ever before he was prime I think. But I'm not sure if he had really attained ATG status before he'd moved up and won the heavyweight title.

    SRL, i reckon he was just to hit (or hitting) his peak when he first retired.

    It's a really difficult thread actually, partly because cut-off points are going to vary and qualifications are going to be different. Holyfield was the #1 CW before moving up to HW but does that make him an ATG? How many fighters are ATG's? Hard one, isn't it...I mean even McLarnin, would he be a lock for a top 30, 40, without his peak efforts later in his career? You can't be sure.

    Maybe pacquaio, looking back i think he hit his absolute prime around about the diaz fight (carrying on to now) and i would have probably classed him as an ATG before then.

    Ray Leonard. He hit his prime around the Norris fight, but had already beaten Hagler, Hearns & Duran.

    :lol::lol:

    Muhammad Ali. He was a solidified ATG Heavyeight after beating Liston twice, and playing with contenders...but he had his prime taken away from him.
