Did anyone in history punch harder than David Tua ?

Tua can punch without a doubt, his left hook is a thing of murder. But he hasn't beaten that many durable men, ex-champions/future champions or not. Rahman, Maskaev, Moorer and Ruiz are/were all far from iron-jawed.

Ibeabuchi, Byrd and Lewis all took the best he had to offer, although his lack of skill aided Byrd and Lewis to a considerable extent.

I'd say Marciano, Lewis, Dempsey and Johansson all had one punch power somewhere around Tua's level. Maybe even somebody like Bob Satterfield.

I did not see his punch vs some ordinary fighters Jeff Wooden, Cisse Salif,Everton Davis,Rob Hawkins,Lester Jackson and we know he did nothing vs Byd, Lewis and looked slow as sh-t in the Rahman rematch...Yet he looked good vs Ruiz and Oleg and Rahman 1.....He has power but can be slow and put in check with power

I don't think in terms of pure concussive power that anyone hit harder, but there were definitely better punchers.

 

There were far better fighters, guys who threw better punches for the situation, but there was really no one I could say threw harder punches than Tua. I was ringside for a couple of his fights and the sound his punches made against a human body were unlike anything I had heard before.

 

I think Curtis "Hatchetman" Sheppard could punch a ton.

 

If you say that because Tua knocked men Unconscious, then you would have to put Razor Ruddox over Tua. Hell Tua never knocked guy out that where out for 5-10 mins. Ask Dokes and Bonecrusher on that.

 

I have determined a rather accurate way of gauging which fighters have the most power. It is far too complicated to post all the details so I will summarize a bit. There are different types of power, but the main thing I focus on is how fast the power puncher could spin the head of the modern typical champion with there best punch. The results varies to the extreme so that it's to the point where it becomes unpredictable. Also Lewis commented that Tua didn't have too much power.

Tua did not land at all against Byrd or Lewis. A punch has to land to hurt.

 

so how qawi lasted 6 dood ?
does tua has less resilience than qawi ?
and an out of shape obese spastic one at that ?
it will last the distance. after all foreman's chin is just a little too high for tua. tua is no frazier. not even tyson. foreman can't stop him that early.

 

in lewis' case it's understood. size makes fights.
with byrd it is a great talent.
but foreman is somewhat shorter than lewis (albeit still a little too tall for tua) and does not have half of byrd's talent. just imagine foreman against a 6'10" wlad or vitali. against the inflated wlad he only has the puncher's chance. against the inflated vitali he is doomed.

Lyle is not a giant puncher. His power is probably slightly above average, Foreman's confidence was completely shot against Lyle and that was at least half of it. If Lyle's power was so good he would of hurt other fighters, compare his fight with Shavers to Quarrys. Quarry doesn't get credit for his power but it looked a heck of alot more impressive.
