Marciano is underated for speed he beat Walcott, Layne,Charles,and Moore to the punch but forget speed how many light yrs was Marciano over Greb in POWER....Please

 

Ill answer that ...The biggest man Tunney ever fought was 203 lb 5"10 Tom Heeney...the next biggest was 192 lb Jack Dempsey....Heeny was not that good....Dempsey was the best Tunney beat at Heavyweight but there was only Dempsey and Heeney.....The more I think about it the more I see Rocky destroying Gene pretty much the way of Lastarza

Tunney was one of the quickest, most agile heavyweights ever. He also had immaculate command of distance and space. There's a reason he won 19 of 20 rounds against Dempsey, a fighter known for his ability to close distance and create punching lanes. Add to this he had considerable punching power when his mitts were in health.

This fight would look alot like Marciano vs Jersey Joe. Tunney would do a good job early on and would make The Rock miss too the head. Around round 5 The Rock would start to bang the body more and more, putting pressure on Tunney to try and keep the Rock at bay. Tunney in the late rounds would have a good time of it, but Rocky would be doing a number on him. In the end I see Rocky winning a UD over Tunney. Tunney dosn't get to love that he should get. In his career he was a very fine fighter. Just think Rocky with the heavy hands would just out work him over the last few rounds and have a UD victory.

 

Not his fault the majority of top rated fighters at that time happened to not be black, and Harry Wills declined to fight him on top of that.

 

You mean the Kid Norfolk that had just been completely outclassed by Tommy Gibbons who Tunney then fought? :huh

 

Not to mention that the claim of Greb being lightyears faster than Marciano is pure speculation. After all: we have no footage of him, so how can we tell? LaMotta was a very good, perhaps even great, swarmer, but no speed demon himself. Marciano has unorthodox but great timing that can upset speed differences. And needless to say, the huge increase in power when going from Greb to Marciano is something to take note of, not to mention that Greb beat Tunney at least once, probably twice.

Nothing cracks me up more than when someone defends a white fighter never fighting blacks ones by making it seem there were zero super talented black fighters available in the day. So from 1919 to 1936, from the middleweight to the heavyweight division , there were no top black fighters for Loughran to fight ? Get real. It's an embarrassment for you to ask the question.

Then go by the first hand accounts of Jack Johnson, Jack Dempsey and Gene Tunney alone who all raved about Greb's speed. Chris, are you saying you think Marciano was faster than Greb ? There was nothing in common in fighting styles between Greb and Marciano.
