hi someone mentioned this match up.... i think it is a very interesting one actually... while i do think foreman should be the fav espically the young verison i like tua's chances everyone will mention joe frazier and how foreman did against him but i think this is a very different fight.... foreman will have a hard time pushing tua around, remember this guy is short block of concreate...going anywhere from 225 to 260... with very strong legs.....this is not frazier tua has a rock hard chin, and if they trade punches it would be interesting how he handles foreman's power and how foreman reacts when that bomb left hook lands.... so what do you think about prime foreman vs tua and the old verison of foreman vs tua?
I personally like the older Foreman's chances better. He punched a lot harder and had a better chin in his comeback. And Tua's power didn't quite have the same effect against the heavier fighters.
With respect, how do you come to that, about being a harder puncher and better chin. I dont understand. Surely a 25yr old Foreman would be as good a puncher if not better than a 45yr old Foreman. As for a better chin, i would imagine if anything, your punch resistance as a 45yr old would wane in comparison to when your 25yr old. It certainly would not get better. Anyway, a young Foreman KOs Tua early
yes tua is no frazier, he is no where as great a fighter but he can take a punch better and is much harder to push back
Well, it should be noted that Foreman, during his prime, was hurt several times and knocked out by a relatively light hitter in Ali. Hurt before he got tired. Young, an even lesser hitter, knocked him down. The only real puncher who landed on Foreman during that time was Lyle, who had him down twice and nearly out - what if that 2nd knockdown didn't occur right before the end of the 4th round? Tua has the better chin, hits harder, has better stamina and the better technique. But of course, just those factors don't determine a fight alone. Foreman is a lot taller and likes his opponents to come to him. Then again, so does Tua. The only boxers bringing the fight to Foreman were Frazier and Lyle. Frazier got blasted because he's a slow starter and perhaps just too small to deal with Foreman. Lyle, well, i already went over that. I'm wondering if anyone even came at Tua. Ibeabuchi is the only one who i can think of, but i had Tua winning that fight by a point. The Nigerian fought gallantly, but shot his bolt early.
So much bull**** in this and you know it. Ali hurt Foreman repeatedly before the knockdown? Bull****. Young had him hurt and down? It was exhaustion, he was never hurt by Ali nor Young. Foreman being downed against Young was literally him going down and bouncing up dead tired. Against Ali, he actually beat the count. atsch Come on Chris.
Legs were shot against Ali but I do think Ali hurt him also. Young, it didn't help that his guy had him do that insane "drying out" ritual. Dehydration.
Just watch the film. Ali hurts Foreman several times with his right hands. No surprise of course, given his total lack of defence. Tua laid his opponents out with a few shots, Foreman always had to club them down repeatedly. I don't see why you consider Tua hitting harder such an outrageous claim. Because Foreman is an established legend, perhaps of your youth, and Tua isn't?
Yeah, Rahman, Maskaev, Ruiz are really nobodys Throw in solid fighters like Darroll Wilson, (unbeaten and knocked out Shannon Briggs prior to this fight) Michael Moorer, Fres Oquendo and in terms of top ten fighters between the two of them, It's just about even. Foreman's best win (Frazier) is better than any single win on Tua's resume, true, but go past that and it's not like Foreman has this awesome set of wins. Frazier, Lyle, Norton, Moorer. After them you have mostly second tier guys. Tua-Foreman puzzles me. I'll have to think about this one and read some of the responses before I make a definite pick.
