He started crying after the cotto-margarito fight when he started talking about one of the longtime HBO cameramen being in a hospital with cancer. It had nothing to do with Cotto losing. However, you can tell that he picks his fighter before the fight, any fight, and gets more excited with their punches when they land.
yeah i think that is part of it and i also think itz cuss lampley sold pac a little short originally and it came back to bite him in the ass so lamp is still a little sore plus lampley used to date pacz mother and she dumped him for pacz dad so thatz alwayz been a source of frustration for the lamp man
same here. i did not notice it on the last fight, i might need to rewatch the fight. i remember the barerra vs pac I and he had some nice calls during the fight.
I am a huge pac fan but I cannot hate cotto in any manner. I admire floyd skills but I hate his personality. So Jim Lampley being on barrera and cotto nuts have no reason to hate pac.
Lampley is the best reflection of what HBO management wants/thinks. He's a straight-up HBO shill. HBO built-up Miguel Cotto, that's why Lamps was on his nuts in the Margo and Pac fights. It's like how he used to be with Jermain Taylor. Cotto is/was HBO's "house fighter" so Lampley would just tailor his commentary towards Cotto. I don't think Lamps hates Pac. I think he likes him, actually. Just not as much as Cotto, the HBO Golden Boy who is now not the commodity he was a few fights ago.
Lampley does whatever HBO tells him to do. At least George Foreman told the truth, but HBO fired him for it.
I remember in the COtto and Pac fight, he said "one of Pac wins was against a Barerra wgho was shot at the time" Not sure why he would say that
after pac KD cotto in the 2nd round he then said "let's see if cotto can make this a 9-9 round" wtf?! lol
