Mitchell - good solid fighter, first fight at WW
Judah - ranked #2 WW, people said he overlooked Baldomir
Baldomir - was the ring champ, the lineal champ and the WBC champ
DLH - arguably the best LMW at the time and WBC champ
Hatton - lineal and ring champ at LWW, ex belt holder at WW
Marquez - #2 p4p, #1 LW, plus it was coming off a 2 year lay off

that is a good resume with no meaningless fights in it?

lets look who he didn't fight

    Margorito - cheater
Mosley - probably will still happen
Cotto - been ko'd twice now
Williams - I agree it should happen
Clottey - does anyone honestly see clottey winning any round in this fight?

dude, compare that resume on top to that resume on the bottom, its not even comparable.

any of the guys on the bottom would have beaten all 5 of the guys on top. seriously.

no one has the resume including all the bottom names.

the point is, the top resume is still pretty good, infact it is really good. he's beaten the best fighter from LW to LMW

    Cotto is close.

I don't begrudge Floyd the path he took up to his "retirement", or even the JMM fight, really (easy win for good money). Any fighter in his shoes would probably have done the same thing; each choice just made too much business sense not to make.

But when he (and fans) downplay other fighters who are taking tough fights for less money while he "retires" because the risk/reward no longer suits him... you're going to get **** on for that.

Not to mention everyone on the list below has a better resume than the above resume.

I think the problem with the top list is that they were all over-rated (Hatton, Baldomir) past their best (ODLH, Marquez) or too small. Still anyone can pick holes in any fighters resume. It's undeniable that Mayweathers a fantastic fighter just wish we could see him fight someone who brings the best out in him ie mosley, williams

Its a decent resume...but for someone who claims to be p4p best and better than SRR & Ali...well..

This. Floyd's resume isn't that bad, but it isn't great.

i agree with this. i also agree cotto has a better resume at WW.

this resume is good, it might nt be great but it certainly isn't a shite resume is it. all the names are champions. plus the fights with pacman, and mosley/berto are very likely to happen. after them fights his resume will look better.

the williams fight would be great because williams has a real chance to beat him.

saying that he will probably rematch hatton in england and i'm sure that will get a lot of stick.

true. floyd should have fought even just 1 of the guys at the bottom list and he could earn more respect.

The Floyd resume apologists are really sad. Yes, he's probably the most naturally gifted fighter of his generation. But, yes, he's also cherrypicked since moving up in weight. His reign at WW is laughable.

this is exactly what i'm talkin about. the resume doesn't need defending, is it the greatest resume? no it isn't. are there people he could've fought? yes. but cherry picking? marquez and hatton called him out. dlh was a champ in a higher weight class! and judah and baldomire where the top two ranked WW's. it speaks for itself. the guy is a 6 time champion, never fought for a vacant belt.
