Found this in the rules of the NY State Athletic Commission......this changes everything....Is this across the board?:huh In order to arrive at a true conclusion every point should be carefully observed and noted as the contest progresses, the decision going to the contestant who scores the greatest number of effective points regardless of the number of rounds won or lost.
Yeah, that's how fights are scored. You might win more rounds then me, but maybe i knocked you down a couple times and have more points at the end of the fight like Pac-Marquez I.
Regardless of knockdowns, I believe what this is saying is: If you win more rounds than me, I can still beat you by making my winning rounds better than your winning rounds. I never thought of it that way.
Only whne you factor in KD's. If we are fighting and I win 8 rounds to your 4 the score should be 116 to 112 me. but if in those four rounds you knock me down four times my score goes down to 112 as well. So it would be a draw even though I won more rounds than you did. This is what happened in JMM vs PAC I. JMM won more rounds but PAC knocked him down three times tkaing away three extra points off of JMM scorecard.
Your reading it wrong. The fight is won or lost on points, and winning rounds is how you score points but it does not nessesarily mean that if you win more rounds you win the fight because of the point deductions for kds. So the person with the most points at the end wins the fight like the rule says, usually that person wins mroe rounds than the other but that is not always the case.
Yeah. This is just to differentiate between the old round scoring system which became obsolete sometime in the mid 70's, where judges (or in some cases just the referee) either gave you a round or didn't, regardless of how large or small the margin of victory for that round.
