Why a Guzman-Funeka Draw is reasonable

OK for a moment, stop being HBO Sheeplings believing everything no nothings like Ledderman tell you. Lets look at the facts:

1. Boxing is scored on a round by round basis
2. If 1 fighter wins/edges 6 rounds and gets his ass beat for the other 6 rounds but doesn't get knocked down or get points docked, he gets a draw, its that simple, maybe not fair but thats how boxing is judged

Now lets examine the following rounds:

1. Clear Guzman round
2. Clear Guzman round
3. Closer round, probably a Guzman round
4. Closish round, Funeka probably did more
5. Close round but Guzman clearly did more
6. Close round, could go either way
7. Close round, could go either way
12. Close round, Guzman did more

Thats 8 rounds which were either Guzman rounds or close rounds that could go either way

So conclude the following:

1. Yes Guzman got his ass kicked from rounds 8-11, massively clear Funeka rounds, Guzman even looked close to being ko'd in 1 of those rounds.

2. Funeka came off better in terms of the fight.

3. Allot of close rounds that could have gone to Guzman, especially as he was scoring cleaner in allot of those rounds

4. With so many close rounds a draw is a plausable score

5. An 8-4 Funeka score is also a plausable score but thats a best case scenario for him

I scored it a draw the second time I watched.

What I think happened is too many people watched the fight on a bad illegal stream and have no clue what really went down, seeing Guzman hurt awarded it too Funeka.

I dont think people score rounds to be honest, they just have a general feeling of who they think won after the fight. They also have a tendency to score punches that dont land

I didn't even think on ESB we'd find people so outrageous enough to justify a draw. It's just insane. Funeka was tapping Guzman's ass.

 

I have not seen the fight yet, but I think this is very accurate. The same thing occurred in the Dawson v. Johnson I bout. On a round by round basis, Dawson clearly won. I was very surprised by the "controversy" claimed by many on the boards.

 

Many people dislike Guzman/Mayweather/Dawson so their bias makes them want to believe their opponents were robbed.

Also when you score a fight 8-4, even if 2-3of those 8 rounds you scored for Fighter A could go to fighter B, posters tend to be adament fighter A was robbed

The fight was on Youtube if you want to see it (well if it hasnt been taken down)

 

Guzman won no more than 3 rounds. No case can be made for a draw. Ali was robbed.

 

Horse and buggy operators might have called the car illegal.

Some online streams are bad, but not as bad as your judgment.

 

You should remove yourself from boxing if you think that was a draw, period.
