Manny Pacquiao vs Yuri Foreman for the 154 lbs belt -- Make It Happen!

It seems this fight is starting to gain some traction in certain boxing circles, particularly in light of the various stories going around that Mayweather and Pacquiao want to duck one another, or one wants to duck, etc.

There are a few reasons why this fight makes sense from both a boxing and a Pacquiao perspective:

* History: Pacquiao has already won titles in a record 7 weight classes. Why not make it 8 weight classes if he beats Foreman? This would further cement Pacquiao's all-time great status and likely raise him up even further in those rankings

* Allows his body to continue to fill out at 147: If Pac is to face Mayweather at PBF's preferred weight of 147 lbs and not a catch weight, then why not allow himself some more time to grow into that weight instead of having to eat 7,000 calories a day just to get to 144-5 or whatever?

* Beat Mayweather at his own game: It's well-known Mayweather cherrypicked everyone he's faced since he moved up to 140+. Names like Baldomir, Judah and ODLH come to mind. 2 of those 3 fights were for titles, too, and helped PBF solidify his legacy via getting belts. Is it time to Pac to take a similar approach, for one fight? Serve Mayweather up a helping of his own dish.

* Prove once and for all that Pac's now a mega-draw. If Pac fights a crowd-unfriendly guy like Foreman and the fight does big numbers, Pac will be able to command a better % of a potential purse with Mayweather

* Mayweather isn't getting any younger, and meeting him later won't hurt Manny any: We know PBF likes fighting guys on the downside of their careers. Can Pac put him in a similar spot as what PBF did with Baldomir, ODLH?

The most important part of a potential Pac-Foreman fight is the legacy aspect of it, of course.

If Pac is able to hold titles from 112 through 154, where would be the ceiling for him in terms of legacy? It's simply unheard of, that kind of excellence across such a wide weight spectrum.

Even other modern-day versions of Henry Armstrong, guys like Roy Jones (champion at 160, 168, 175 and 200+), couldn't match the weight variance Pacquiao had demonstrated if he could pull in the 154 lbs title. And, he would then have a title as far up in weight at which Mayweather achieved his own 'upper weight' crown over ODLH.

It seems PBF has plans for a UK fight as it is. If Pacquiao believes he can defeat Foreman, I'm all for this bout. I've never been concerned about Mayweather as an opponent for Pacquiao (I think Mayweather wins the bout) and don't care if he ever faces him, though I hope he will at some point. But if he can win another strap and get 8 division titles vs 7, I say go for it.

No doubt, no doubt. It's Pac's "Baldomir" fight, there's no question about it. It's a "Gatti special" for Pac.

I like it for the history, though.

ODLH was shot, everyone knew that. Dude was fighting like once/year and looked like junk against guys like Strum. 34 years old.

Judah = coming off of loss to Baldomir. Straight cherrypick, that's easy to call.

You think real fans/insiders don't know what you guys have been doing? LOL.

The best thing that ever happened to PBF was when Baldomir beat Judah. Everyone knows that.
