david Tua vs G.Foreman(young or old) who wins

Thing is, Lewis danced and outboxed Tua. Byrd did it too. We know Foreman won't. We know Foreman can't. He's going to trade with Tua like he did with Lyle.

That's why Foreman-Tua compares well with Foreman-Lyle, while Lewis/Tua/Rahman/McCall doesn't compare well at all.

By the way, it doesn't necessarily mean that Tua finishes what Lyle started, or that he even gets that far, but certainly i don't think it bodes well for George.

 

As I mentioned in an earlier post, Foreman casually shoved an admittedly steroid pumped Tommy Morrison back like a rag doll with a quick push of his forearms, and ate a number of Tommy's hooks without flinching. Of course we all know that Morrison didn't have Tua's chin, but Tommy certainly had size and reach Tua lacked.

How does Tua's physical strength and punching power compare to Morrison's? Can Tua win if George keeps him at arm's length, like he did Frazier? Can he win if Foreman forces him to give ground like that? (Tommy pulled it off, but he's 6'2" with a 76" reach. Tua's 5'10" with a 70 inch reach.) I'm not yet sold on Tua defeating the version of Foreman that Morrison outpointed. Convince me.

 

Foreman easily. He could take Frazier and Lyle's best shot why not Tua. It would be like the Frazier fight too short no defense and not enough to get Foreman's attention.

 

Yes, that was the 260lbs Foreman who had better technique and balance.

You want to put that fat old guy, who had a terrible record aside from one punch, in the same ring with Tua?

 

A fight with Tua would certainly represent a stylistic matchup that Foreman looked for during his comeback, but Tua in shape was very busy, much quicker than later on in his career at 240+ pounds and punched harder and faster than anything Foreman ever faced with exception to maybe Holyfield, who landed quite easily on Foreman when he chose to stand and brawl with him. Plus, how good would Foreman be at punching down to a 5'10 Tua? To me that spells disaster, an old slow fat man missing with a righthand leaves a huge opening for Tua to counter with his lefthook. I dont know if old Foreman could take Tuas lefthook, and would suspect not.
Morrison took the easiest route to beating Foreman, by just staying away and boxing. His power was not really a factor.

 

If you could put the older Foreman's brain in the younger Foreman's body I'd say George wins without question. The young George just couldn't relax and often fought stupidly as he did against Ali and Young. The older George took his time, picked his shots and fought more intelligently thus conserving his energy. Both men are bombers no doubt but George has the advantage of height and reach and (if he fights smart) can land from the outside while Tua has to get close to do his damage. Foreman's jab could be the deciding factor. Assuming of course he uses it to his advantage. If he does then George could win this one but it's still hard for me choose a clear winner. If I was betting a few bucks and a case of beer I might actually pick Tua. If I'm betting the house and my life savings I'll go with Foreman.

 

...And then there's the possibility (made more plausible by Holmes' comeback, in a way) that the 70's fighters were simply a better crop than the 90's. Lyle hurt Foreman where guys like Morrison and Briggs couldn't because he was a better fighter--a notoriously difficult thing to define objectively since the only measurement we have (film) is like trying to measure a string tied to a bobbing cork in the middle of a hurricane with a ruler.

(I'm also open to the opposite argument--that superior training makes modern fighters better--but we'll hold that off for another day).

 

Stylistically tua was made in order of foreman,i pick even 91 george to decision him. However the 97 foreman would take a beating being a very old,static big dummy

 

Old foreman could not take the hook from tua ****ing idiot? Nobody had a better chin than old foreman ....

 

Based off of what? How many of those types of fighters did George beat to prove that those types of fighters would be tailor-made for him?

 

Tex Cobb, George Chuvalo, Ross Puritty, Mike Tyson……..Granite chins!

 

Foreman all day everyday. Young George would stop Tua after an awful pounding.

 

If young Foreman doesn't stop him inside 6 (which he should) then Tua has a shot of stopping Foreman. I see it a 90/10 fight in Foreman's favor.
