He's only 8 fights into his career, so you can't expect him to be taking on the Klitschkos just yet.

He does, however, need to start facing better competition, that's for sure. He's had his comeback fight from his hand injury, ok fine, but now he needs to either fight another good prospect, or a good journeyman so we can really see what he's made of.

how you are in the amatuers doesn't always determine how your gonna fare in the pro ranks, you can get an idea but it doesn't always determine how said fighter is gonna execute when he's in the pro ring. henry tillman beat tyson twice in the amatuers, and when he faced tyson as a pro he was brutally knocked out in the first round. david izon beat tua in the amatuers, but tua put a severe beating on him for ten rounds and eventually knocking him out. so as you can see, you shouldn't look at a fighters amatuer background to determine how they're gonna fare in the pro ranks. as many have done good, and many have flopped when they stepped in the pro rings.

how much do you know about boxing exactly?? who starts off their career fighting top 20 or even top 40 competiton?? all pro fighters start off fighting bums in order to climb through the pro ranks. it almost a mandatory precedure if you look to gain experience. if your gonna hate on a fighter or have such a negative bias towards them, AT LEAST wait until their career develops so you can develop some type of reason to hate them. you sound like a true noob saying a raw, young fighter such as wilder is feeding off bums when he only has eight fights underneath his belt. does wilders skin color bother you? wouldn't be suprised.

Wilder is a tantalizing prospect but is very raw. He doesn't need to step up in class for another couple years, although I do hope they at least find an opponent who can stay on his feet for a couple rounds.

But it's way too early to know what'll do long-term. Having said that, I'm impressed by his work ethic and apparent commitment to conditioning. I could never get on the Arreola hype train.

If Wilder wants to really see where he is at, let him fight Odlanier Solis! The Cuban who is only 15-0 as a pro, will KO him in the first in a one sided fight. As for the people saying that a fighter does'nt necessarily need great Amateur accomplishments to make it big in the pros is totally ignorant. Solis, even overweight at 271lbs, will dismantle Wilder in a no-contest. It does'nt matter if Wilder is in great shape, and is 6'6 with a huge right hand, Solis will put him to sleep just as worse as he did to Monte Barrett. Solis is Olympic Gold medalist and 3 times World Amateur Champion. As for Wilder, nothing accomplished as an amateur.

Wilder's last name is exactly right, Wilder, very wild! He has a lot of physical attributes but without good amateur experience is very hard to be World Champion...:hi:

So what? He was very inexperienced there and fought a very experienced amatuer. What did you expect? By the way, Larry Holmes was KO'd twice cold in the amatuers.

There are countless examples of Champions with little or no amatuer experience. Rocky Marciano for one. Plus Solis,, though only 15-0, is a very experienced fighter. It wouldn't be fair. Plus Solis is going nowhere in this division.

larry holmes: amatuer record 19-3. went on to become a dominant heavyweight champ defending his title 20 times.

mike tyson: silver medalist, two time world champion and went on to become the youngest heavyweight champion while unifying the titles.

henry tillman: gold medal winner and beat tyson twice as an amatuer, mediocre pro career along with getting knocked out by tyson in the first round.

and as far as wilders accomplishments, he's a bronze medalist. not the best, but far from being nothing as you like to describe. but back on topic, as you can see having a stellar amatuer background almost means nothing. as another poster stated, comparing pros to amatuers is like comparing apples and oranges. its two completely different worlds where skills are light years apart. and about solis, the guy is 29 years old. he has almost no choice but to rush himself in the ranks as time is catching up with him, and mcdonalds:rofl:rofl

the amount of hate wilder is getting is ridiculous, i have no idea why. its not like anyone is overrating him, or that he's a complete dick like floyd mayweather. why all the hate?? im beginning to suspect that some people are intimidated by the fact he's a huge powerful BLACK fighter. a harsh assumption, but cant think of another reason why. is it his trunks?

Who is training him? The right trainer could help him grow into the next American HW champ. He has a long, long way to go based on what I have seen, though. I hope he is managed properly. He seems to be stepping up from complete tomato cans to D fighters. Patience is the key with him because the physical tools are absolutely there.

I hate to say it, but it sometimes seems like there is racial motivation around here.

And they all have been mediocre as well! This is why Holyfield schooled Tyson. The better Champions like Lewis, Bowe, Holyfield, etc were all amateur standouts. Champions without amateur pedigree like Holmes, Tyson, etc were C type Champions.

I don't feel any hate towards Wilder, it's just that his opposition has been against horrible fighters with all losing records, so until he faces at least a 20-0 or 20-2 type of fighter (with good amateur background) he has not shown anything.

By the way, Solis is going somewhere my friend. At just 15-0 he is already WBC #3, and all of his opponents have had at least a lot of professional experience since his debut! Solis will shock many of you who think that he can't just because he is overweight...Look at what happened to Monte Barrett who all of you said that he was going to upset Solis!!:rofl

Oh by the way, Solis is also 100% Black, so no hate for Wilder for being Black. :bart

i stopped reading after that, you wouldn't know real talent if it dropped on your head. tillman was a gold medalist and was passed around like a ****** in jail when he went pro. so again, comparing amatuers to pros is an irrelevant argument.
