If Gans was getting ko'ed by the punches McGovern was throwing at him, it's a wonder he came out with a reputation greater than that of Roger Mayweather as far as chins go.

A better dive than Greg Louganis ever produced.

So SS, You dont think McGovern shock Gans with his Mike Tyson power??

Terry by accouts was a massive hitter, Sure some knockdowns look odd, but most of em were on the button. I also think the lack of a NC rule played a large part in that 2 round blow out. Gans imo didnt relly have time to clear his head.

This is the much preferred interpretation.

If both McGovern and Gans were at or under the lightweight limit, then the title is on the linear championship no matter what McGovern and Gans worked out by contract. That's my opinion.

About to whether Gans took a dive, I don't know.

Joe Gans wasn't the lightweight champ at the time, but Frank Erne was, and McGovern beat him by a 3rd round TKO in a catchweight bout. Erne came in at 128 pounds. Gans later took the title from Erne by a first round knockout.

What occurs after about 7 minutes into the film certainly looks suspicious.

I believe boxing was banned in the city the fight was held in for a long time. I've heard that Gans admitted to having thrown the bout but I'm not sure.
