    Walcott could win this.

    It is not a foregone conclusion that Lewis wins by any means.

    There are few foregone conclusions in the HW top 20. This isn't one, but i'd be happy to put money down. From a technical perspective it's very difficult to make an argument for Walcott. He has to come to far across to be countered. He ends up inside against a man who can manhandle him like a ragdoll or over-extended versus one of the most dangerous punchers in the history of the sport.

    lewis has every physical advantage in the world. the thing that makes me believe jersey joe could and will take this fantasy matchup is the boxing brain. even though lewis had a great one, knowing how to use his physical advantages to the best of his abilities, I get the feeling that if any fighter was able to figure out lewis's weaknesses and slick & slip his way toward exploiting them and winning a decision or late round tko or KO, its the truly great Jersey Joe Walcott

    The footage of Jersey Joe with Hein Ten Hoff demonstrates that Walcott was capable of doing very well against somebody the height and reach of Lennox. I agree that a Lewis win is not a foregone conclusion here.

    Walcott just too small and out-gunned here........ Walcott goes several rds cuz of his legs, but Lenny Lewis catches up to him and pounds Walcott into the canvas for a KO / TKO in around the 8th stanza..... Lewis wins.......

    Lewis blasts out Walcott within 8 rounds. All the cute and often useless footwork that worked on 6 foot guys with 75 inch reaches won't work on a monster like Lewis who knows how to use his size.

    Here I am not so sure.

    I can see Walcotts movment giving Lewis a lot of problems. Walcott is going to make Lewis follow him around the ring and use the fact that Lewis is chasing him to lead him into traps and counters.

    I also think that Walcotts power is suficient to make him a serious threat.

    I pick Lewis as being the easy favorite here, and feel that this is a mismatch. I'm also not even going to look to the McCall and Rahman fights in an effort to give Walcott a chance.

    But given what Lewis did well, read opponents and box accordingly, you can't possibly think every one of these traps would work? Look at Walcott's perspective whenever one goes wrong or even slightly wrong. He's in permenant danger on the outside v the hardest puncher he's faced and he's in horrible danger on the inside every time he gets counter-trapped and often even when he lands. Its a nightmare for Walcott on every front.

    I'd agree with that. Walcott has a punchers chance in that he can't win unless its via landing one punch, and it needs to be as hard as the one Rahman landed on him. It would be one of the greatest filmed punches in history, if not the greatest given the disparity in sizes of the fighters. It's no co-incidence that no such punch exists in the history of filmed boxing.

    Some of the polls are real easy. Some of these polls are hard. This one is easy. Lewis wins inside the distance.

    Lewis worked well on the front foot. But regardless, there are degrees. Lewis doesn't have to rush forwards. Lewis's 10" advantage in reach and 5" advantage in height mean he doesn't have to be anything like in Walcott's range...he doesn't have to burst that bubble at all.

    Walcott has huge distances to close with his traps, and every time he tries he takes his consciousness in his hands.


    Walcott's manufacturing wouldn't only have to traverse the distances between the fighters bodily but also the distance between a focused, concentrated Lewis and a Lewis bouncing forwards off the ropes smiling.

    Huge ask for a man of equivilant dimensions. Probably impossible for Walcott.

    Walcott, Langford, anyone else takes a series of three based upon the Rahman KO? Lewis showed vulnerability against Rahman, yes. In a fight where almost every concievable technical & physical and most stylistic advantages lie with Lennox, is it really that relevant?

    This fight could go either way, I voted Lewis on points but he could KO Walcott, get KO`d himself if caught properly (think McCall & Rahman) & outboxed by the slicker Walcott.

    Lewis was a massive HWT with sound textbook boxing skills & lethal power, tomorrow my answer could be different but right now Im leaning towards the size of Lewis enabling him to win on points... he`d likely be behind on points before catching Walcott good, not KOing him but doing enough lasting damage to keep Joe very defensive, maybe too defensive & overtake him on points.

    Walcott was a great fighter tho, both guys make my top 10 HWTs actually, Lewis at no9 & Walcott at no10.
