So, I was thinking. Margarito with concrete gloves couldn't knock down cotto (granted he did rearrange his face a bit). Pac without concrete gloves knocked cotto down twice! Says alot about pac's power.

However, just want to say, I always was and still am a cotto fan!

Cotto is the man. I hope he bounces back and takes on all comers.

It's harder to absorb a punch you don't see coming.

    Margarito made Cotto quit.

Pac needed the ref help to stop Cotto.

you guys seems to forgot that Margarito is almost 6 foot tall, he has a big frame and probably has to kill himself every time to come down to welterweight. Trust me that weakens your punches, hence the need for plaster power.

man of his size should not even be at welter.

You must have tiny legs. Just because you have wide shoulders does not mean you are in any condition to fight.

Hearns fought at that weight, only early in his career, his body was still developing. Williams started at 156,. im sure he's been killing himself to make those welter fights, not gud.

Margarito is in his prime , his body should be mature with extra weight, hence he should not be fighting at welter.

Speed is what did Cotto in, not Pacquiao's punching power. Not to say Pac can't hit, he definitely can, but it was his hand speed that overwhelmed Cotto. If you look at the two knockdowns, both were a result of Cotto getting caught with something he didn't see coming. That was the case with Ricky Hatton also. No fighter in boxing is as fast as Pacquiao, and that includes Floyd Mayweather.

Oh, please. The fight was stopped with two minutes left. Cotto was so out of it, that he surely wouldn't have made it to the final bell anyhow. You say Marg made Cotto quit, while Pac needed the ref's help...I mean come on...Margarito didn't knock Cotto off his feet twice. Cotto went down on his own accord.

Despite the knockdowns, Cotto seemed to be more hurt in the Marg fight.

yeah but there are a bunch of other examples. look at ali funeka just from saturday. the guy is 6'1 and weighed in at 135. De la Hoya is 5'11 and won a title at 130

That's really not the point. We're talking about raw punching power.

Demarcus Corley almost had Miguel Cotto out on his feet. Do you consider Corley a power puncher???????

Pac overwhelmed Cotto with his speed and relentlesness, very simiar to what Juan Diaz did to Acelino Freitas. Is Juan Diaz a power puncher???

Margarito beat Cotto into submission, using his brute force, his power.

While Pac overwhelmed Cotto, Margarito not only rearranged Cotto's face but rearranged his internal organs.

Not saying one is better than the other, just stating the truth.
