This always happens. It's like when people try to compare Arthur Abraham and Winky Wright simply because they hold their gloves up to defend. Bute and Calzaghe are similar only in their stance, their weight, and other frivolous details.
Bute WON the first fight. It's been decisively shown that Andrade kept leaving the neutral corner, thereby stopping the count. That's his own fault.
Joe was a great fighter and one of the best SMW of all time. However, he is a slapper that won his fights with his work rate. I think he is an excellent fighter but slightly over rated. Bute is a much better technical boxer than Joe and is coming up at a time when the SMW division has never been better. If Bute or any other Boxer can dominate the division they will be in serious contention to be considered the BEST SMW of all time. It is kinda funny that Joe leaves the sport just before the young guns that are peaking today made it to the top. Did he see something or someone coming down the road? With a weak win (which I thought he lost but could have gone either way) over Bhop did he leave at a time with unfinished business? Most fighters do not stay in the same division unless there are big money fights to be made (ie Haglar). Big money fights where there at lightheavy and middle . . . why did he not make those steps earlier? I am just puzzled by his career either go for the money (like Money) or the glory (like Pac) but he did neither. The only real reason anyone considers him a great fighter is because of the Bhop fight. Do not get me wrong he did fight a great fight but how would he have look in boxing history if he did not have Bhop? Probably a solid fighter but not a great fighter. I know this is a product of the era of SMW he was in (ie the Klit bros). I just wish he would have conducted his career differently I guess . . . nothing more nothing less. I hope Bute and the rest do things differently.

I disagree that Calzaghe was just a slapper. He had excellent boxing skills, a great chin and unrivaled stamina. You only have to watch the Lacy, Kessler, even the Jones fights to see this. The fight with Hopkins was horrible, a real off night, but I still think he edged it. When he moved up to Light-heavy, he had already done everything at Super-Middle, having beaten the champs in Lacy and Kessler and unified the titles. The young guns such as Ward and Dirrell were unheard of. Taylor was still a middleweight. Froch was just a British Champion. A competition such as the Super Six was complete pie in the sky 2 years ago. Also, no way in hell could he have boiled down to middleweight. He struggled to get to super-middle as it is. Anyway, all that aside Bute is an excellent fighter. He looks similar to Calzaghe and is a southpaw, but he definitely has his own style. I look forward to seeing what he does in his next few fights. The Super Six would have been much richer had he been included.
Not the same situation, Andrade was on his knees, and couldn't even get up. In the first fight, Bute was getting up when Wright told Andrade to go back in his corner.
:goodThat's how I see it, Calzaghe was a great fighter. Bute still has a lot to proof but I personally think he will be one of the Best by end of 2010
Totally different Bute is far more relaxed fighter who is a counter puncher, couldnt be anymore different other than there both left handed.
