By the time benitez had got to middleweight he was on the slide, and was not a natural middlweight, as he proved when hamsho proved far to strong for him! roughing him up and just walking throught wilfredo at times. Minter is a under rated fighter and was a strong career middleweight. I see minter geting outboxed early on by bentiez, but eventually geting wilfredo down the stretch after roughing bentiez up on the inside, maybe minter stops a tired and beaten up benitez in about 14 rounds? with benitez slightly leading on the score cards :good
Minter wasn't the most evasive fighter in the world, and Antuofermo said he had difficulty coping with head movement. In 1980, Benitez turned Johnny Turner into a bloody mess, and he probably would have stopped Alan on cuts.
Benitez was past it by the time he fought Hamsho although Hamsho would have always given Benitez trouble with his style. I think the Benitez that beat Hope would win a decision over Minter but Minter would make it competetive ,being a natural middle with an advantage in height. I think Benitez outboxes him early Minter makes it closer in the mid rounds and eventually Benitez would cut Minter up and win a decision 9-6-1. Or a maybe he stops Minter late on cuts.
at middle benitez was past it but as has been said if benitez fought minter in his next fight after hope i would favour benitez by a decision or as ever with minter a cuts stoppage ,
