Amir Khan wants to defend his WBA LWW title vs. World LW Champion Juan Manuel Marquez, and since Hatton hasn't decided on the Dinamita fight yet, Amir wants to get it done for April. Remember that Khan was a lightweight a year ago, and not really a physical fighter, so there won't be so much physical advantage Hatton would have. It's a really great fight. Marquez could be the first Mexican to win titles in 4 divisions and would be favored by fans to do so, most would agree that Khan is not ready for one of the best fighters P4P who twice could've got the decision vs. Pacquiao. But for Khan, it's a shortcut for US stardom and he could finally get rid of the Prescott memories. It's a good fight for all sides, and on the undercard mandatory Marcos Maidana could get an interim fight before facing the winner in a bigger fight than it would be without a double-header.
Khan would have the speed, but Marquez has the brains and chin and is one of the best punchers on the back foot, Khan would be in trouble
I think it would be close; Marquez via decision for me. I think also depends on how much Khan has improved until then. As his progress under Roach has been very good imo.
Will someone please explain to me why people randomly answer KOKI KAMEDA in every ****in thread I read? Thank you.
hmm says . . . Khan by decision...JMM is too tough to be KO'ed..... the speed is there... I love JMM but I think ppl have studied JMM enough to the point where they can utilize his flaws even though he is a masterful tactician/technical fighter...... physical advantages fall heavily on Khan while experience goes to JMM... PBF set an excellent blueprint on how to win as well, utilizing speed, if Khan/Roach can do something similar for then I give a big chance for Khan...... I'm not taking away from JMM and I'm not a Khan nuthugger, but this how I see it.... the weight will also be a factor as well..
Great matchup. If JMM can figure out how to deal with Khans speed he can win. Otherwise Khan wins on points.
JMM fights amazing moving both backwards and forwards, and also is experienced enough/ has shown he deals with speed well. Roach may bring Khan on leaps and bounds but at present he's still a linear predictable fighter with a rather limited arsenal. He will most certainly improve further but not enough in this time frame to confidently take on JMM. The right hand shot that JMM landed on Floyd in round 2 of their encounter would put Khan in a world of trouble. JMM still has enough in the tank to take this, he may have added incentive to **** Roach off.
