EDIT: Nah, I guess I need to let it go. Sorry for confusion. My whole point was it landed on an illegal area, not that it was intentional. Roy has to let it go too and stop chasing dreams he can't make true.

Come on Roy! Hang'em up! Back to HBO and kick that S.O.B. Kellerman out of there! :deal

Rabbit punch is still an illegal punch in professional boxing. Edison Miranda recently knocked out his opponent by a flush illegal blow to the back of the head and KO artist Danny Green also landed an ILLEGAL RABBIT PUNCH on Roy Jones Jr. earlier today.

Shot Jones? Not shot Jones? He was knocked down and absolutely hurt by an illegal blow, so no way this fight is any indication where he's at now. You can say it was an "accidental illegal rabbit punch" (wasn't intentional) and that the ref was incompetent or just never saw it, but Roy still never had a chance to prove himself in a clean fight.

The chin has no direct contact with the brain yet a clean blow there can still turn off the lights inside your head. Green's gloves clearly contacted to the back side of the brain of Roy Jones causing the shocking knockdown. Roy even put his left hand behind his head to that area when he was going down. He, or "his reflexes" felt it went to an illegal area.

how about not giving the back of your head when fighting? You can clearly see Jones turning his head...

cant argue with you here BIGbONE, the video evidence is there to prove it

doesnt change the fact that roy has to retire for his own health and the good of the sport

It was an illegal punch but it's not like Danny Green did it on purpose.

Jones needs to retire either way. I've been hoping he'd hang them up for awhile now.

Maybe this will help create the rationale for having the Hopkins fight. I hope so - I REALLY want to see that fight!

looks to the back from that angle. clearly unintentional and that's bound to happen in boxing. roy didn't challenge the stoppage in his post fight statements (or the blow), so it's a tough call. i still think it was at least arguably a premature stoppage and his equilibrium was definitely on the 'fritz' and he may have recovered (and probably should've been given the chance b/c he was blocking most of the blows). would a younger fighter have the same reaction from the hit? i'm not a doc so don't know. tough loss.

I don't argue with that, just showing that a direct blow to the brain caused the shock KD, and that kind of shot is illegal. If your opponent turns out, that's against the rules, but punishing him by landing flush on the back of the head is not only against the rules but very dangerous health-wise. Of course, Green had little time and no intentions to stop throwing, I don't argue with that. But an illegal shot is an illegal show no matter how you spin it.
