We just got a bit excited.

Thank heavens that they didn't ask us to name our new p4p list.

  2. "When You Beat a Legend, You Become A Legend"

Absolutely correct. I see nothing wrong with what he said IN THIS CONTEXT.

Yes, he will become an Australian legend, a famous sports personality, after beating a boxing legend.

No, he will not become P4P #1 ATG. If you read between the lines to assume this, you're a moron.

    Well said mate..

I can assure you, he is a legend in Australia.

Green represents the battlers, he isnt overly classy, he is
just a knockabout bloke who gets where he does through sheer
hard work. He never ducks anyone, doesnt claim to be the best,
he knows his strengths and works to improve them.

    And he loves a beer.

Bernard Hopkins made the quote on the Australian 24/7 style lead up show.

Hopkin the idiot said it, the commentator watched the pre show.
Hopkin's said "when you beat a legend you become one, you become one because you have the credibility".It was a stab at Hopkin.Who is next in line for Green.

So you, the ambassador or junkyard trailerpark fighting, want to tell us that RJJ is not a legend?

    :deal

It was a direct quote of Hopkins, from the pre-fight build up doco, in which he also threw down his favourite line of 'Who's <insert boxer's name here>?' in an attempt to denigrate Danny Green.

When you beat a legend you become the answer to a trivia question.

Why am I not surprised that something dopey that Hopkins said is behind this nonsense?

Yeah definitely a reference to BHOP. Would have been lost on the, and taken at face value by, most of the watch-one-fight-every-couple-of-years in the crowd and pubs though.

Usually a mediocre fighter who beats a legend never becomes a legend. Only a guy who was seen as a possible legend already becomes more of a legend.

With this sentence in mind, I'm glad the likes of Berbick and Spinks are assured a place among the greats of our glorious sport.
