Yes, Lewis actually won the event against Rahman, I remember it well :D

Also, fancy having crappy old Corrie Sanders on your record as your biggest win, what a sad state of affairs. I'm still talking about Rahman, in case anyone is confused here :yep

Lennox Lewis only fought Rahman and McCall once; his alter-ego Lummox lost to both!!!

So, being serious, it was very important that a very modern fighter in Lennox got them rematch wins to prove himself a top 10 all-time Heavyweight fighter. Because like you are trying to hypothesis, without them wins, Lewis is merely a top 30 fighter.

Lewis won the event in the first Rhaman fight? Bawhahaha. He was KO'd by one punch, giving a smug smile just before he went down for a ten count. The only event Lewis won that night was the best fall.

The facts - Lennox Won TKO6 - stick to it

Even Vitali is over it and now and visits Lennox in Jamaica

And Vitali lost to an even worse version of Lenny

    Good thread.

With that style we could tear whole ATG careers apart.
Bwoy, there are tons of rematches or non-rematches that made ATG careers.

He was ahead on the cards at the time of stoppage, the circumstances surrounding the stoppage are irrelevent, surely?

I mean, what's worse, getting caught by one huge haymaker, or getting constantly pounded until the doctor takes a look at your eye and calls for a gynecologist for a second opinion?

You have an agenda in every post, so yes, you're a fanboy. You keep trying desperately to prove to disinterested people the 'cowardice' shown by Lewis. He was pushing 38, and a prime Vitali failed to take him out. That's the only fact. For the record, I don't give a **** about Lewis.

I can see a lot of folks doing that (assuming we have PCs in 50 years). I mean, that's a big part of what we do here - talk about old fights!

It possibly hurts Vitali's legacy that he never got his rematch.

Of course, he may have been beaten again.

    Either way, tough break.

I'd say Hagler has more reason to feel afronted, anyway.

It depends really. When talking about Vitali Lewis, your talking about a guy that retired. He wasnt in the prime of his career nor was he at his best.
Should a rematch have been carried out between Hopkins and Jones Jr? Probably, considering how Hopkins was perceived to improve ten fold over Jones Jr who supposedly didnt in the minds of many.
In the case of Tyson Douglas? Nah Douglas lost in his very next fight and also retired, so it depends really. Flash in the pan or a real upset, than yes. Vitali wasnt a flash in the pan, but Lewis was old, and I think Vitali's career like Hopkins has been enhanced quite a bit since the LOSS with this perception that they would automatically win if they got their rematch.

Wladimir would probably be a few pegs lower if he never beat Brewster in a rematch
