Yeah Cotto probably beats the Curry that lost to Honeyghan. I doubt anyone was thinking of pitting Cotto against that version of Curry though.

    Leonard - SRL dominates
    Duran - Duran dominates
Cuevas - Cotto outboxes him to a UD
Palimino - a good close contest, I think Cotto can edge it
Benitez - Benitez outboxes him for periods but Cottos intelligent pressure makes it a close fight he just loses out on
Starling - a close back and forth contest, edge Starling but Im not sure Cotto could edge this
    Curry - Curry dominates
    Simon Brown - Cotto UD
Honeyghan - hmmm Honeyghan has such a short peak but he was great against Curry, technically very good, this would be a great fight, edge Honeyghan
    Whitaker - Whitaker wide UD
    McGirt - McGurt UD 8-4
Quartey - Quarteys quality versus Cottos workrate, a close contest either way
    DLH - DLH edges it
Tito - Tito by KO most likely but Cotto would outbox him at times with better boxing ability
Mosley - I thought past prime Mosley won so prime Mosley certainly takes it
    Forrest - Forrest UD
Mayorga - Cottos better technical skills see him win a UD

curry was not outclassed by honeyghan.
    (1) he was drained. a fact is he moved to 154 afterwards and never came back. he even visited the 160.
    (2) honeyghan used his head smart against him. it takes from honeyghan's 'win'.

Leonard - SRL too much speed, skill and power. 8th TKO
Duran - Duran takes all Coto has then drops him inside 6 rounds
Cuevas - Cotto outboxes him to a UD
Palimino - Palimino was skilled, but this is a toss up
Benitez - Benitez falls victim to Cotto's pressure 10th KO
Starling - Starling dropps bombs and walks through Cotto's shots ending it inside 10 rounds
Curry - Curry outboxes Cotto to a decision
Simon Brown - this is a toss up
Honeyghan - this is a toss up
Whitaker - Whitaker walks away with a shut out UD
McGirt - McGurt gets a split decision
Quartey - Quarteys is a solid fighter, but Cotto's style wins him a UD
DLH - DLH destroys Cotto with a devastating left hook inside 7 rounds
Tito - Cotto would outbox Tito, but Tito would land the bombs eventually ending the fight inside 10 rounds (I would say earlier, but this would be a pride fight)
Mosley - Mosley walks through Cotto's best and delivers the knockout inside 10 rounds
Forrest - Forrest boxes to a UD
Mayorga - Cottos defends against the wild shots and eventully get into a rhythm and outpoint Mayorga

Good post. I only really disagree on Oscar because I think Hoya knocks Cotto out.

If Cotto couldn't handle a cave man like Margarito, I don't exactly like his chances against Quartey, Honeyghan or Palomino. And DEFINITELY not Cuevas.

Recomended viewing Mante? Have only seen the first Norris fight. Really, based on that he showed he could take Cotto down really, Cotto never as fluent as Norris, although more focused and less prone to admiring his own work.

I honestly think Mayorga would smash Cotto, Miguel probably can't hurt Margo that bad (Margarito at his peak of durability anyway, let's not forget he took bombs from Tito for rounds, Oscar was a better puncher than Cotto and the punch Mosley landed on Mayorga would've taken out any weary opponent)

Mayorga is wild and open, but strong, tough and with explosive power. I say he gets to Cotto in the mid rounds, still flailing away at the end at beating Cotto badly.

Although, I'd envision Mosley being a nightmare for Cotto, and he managed to beat him, and that was a competitive and fast Mosley, not the one that turned up against Mayorga recently. Judging Cotto in 'fantasy fights' that's clearly the best version of him.

You wonder if Margarito really ****ed him up or whether he was always susceptible to a durable opponent who can apply constant pressure. They're a nightmare for most but with someone with stamina/skin/durability issues like Cotto, they really do **** up his gameplan.

Anyone want to elaborate on how a small welterweight who needs his jab to set up everything has a stylistic advantage over Ike Quartey?

Oddly enough, I think Miguel would have had a great chance at playing picador to El Matador's bull rushes. As physical as Mayorga was, he was built to swing from the middle distance, not bang on the inside. I see Cotto's shorter punches getting there first and taking a lot of steam out of the wild man's enthusiasm.

It's also not like he'd be overmatched here stamina-wise either.
