No. Pernell Whitaker, Manny Pacquiao and Roy Jones were better. Hopkins is 4th, unless you count Chavez and Holyfield as 90s fighters although their peaks were in the 80s.

But you have to take Hopkins' longevity into consideration. He has been a key player in boxing for the last 20 years, fighting at least 1 fight in EVERY calendar year, since 1990.

Whitaker, Pacquiao, and RJJ can't say that... Not even Chavez and Holyfield can claim that. And I am a Pacquiao fan.

    Many are greater than him.

Floyd, Pac, Lewis, Whitaker, RJJ, Morales etc

I don't know if he makes top 10. He ruled a weak division and beat some good names, only one of whom was a force in that division - Tarver.

Trinidad ranks nowhere at middle - Outside top 30.
De La Hoya ranks nowhere at middle - Outside top 30.
Pavlik ranks nowhere above middle - Outside top 50.
Winky ranks nowhere above middle - Outside top 50.

Then he has losses to Jones, where he was outclassed, Calzaghe, whose resume is in doubt and Taylor, who just has his two big Hopkins wins and a draw with Winky.

It's east to destroy Hopkins' resume.

Time will do Hopkins justice. He's one of the best in the last 20 years, would probably finish at the bottom on a top5 list in a poll today, but only to climb up during the years when popular fighters popularity will no longer be an issue when it comes down judging a fighter, just ability and accomplishments.

Now that's where Hopkins will start moving up on the list.

Time always does justice to the underrated.

    No, he most definitely isnt.

I had a whole paragraph ready to explain why but hidden polls irritate me so Im not saying a word other than that I voted `no.`

(Hope you learned a valuable lesson concerning polls today.)

If Mayweather beats Pacquiao & Mosely convincingly, would you have him over Hopkins, Popkins ?

No he isnt, Morales, like Hopkins was an elite regular top 10 p4per, there`s no `definitely` about it.... you should have singled out Lewis, not EM, Hops is `definitely` better than Lewis.
