What's the Classic opinion: could B-Hop really move up and defeat Haye?

Even as a huge Hopkins fan, I don't think this is viable.

Thoughts?

 

Absolutely not. I saw suffucient enough evidence last night to suggest Bernard isn't even as efficient as he was 3-4 years ago. David Haye will land often enough to knock Hopkins out, the disparity in size is too much of a factor. Haye's an athletic Heavyweight, he ain't no John Ruiz.

 

To be honest I think now is a good time for Hopkins to quit while he's ahead.

 

Hopkins cant crack an egg, and Haye is pretty quick. I dont think he would have a chance at this point in his career.

 

Haye in my opinion has worst glass jaw of any top ten ranked heavy in the 2000's.

I can't see Hopkins, who was never a big puncher at middle weight getting to it often enough. I'd pick Haye to win here.

 

I thought Haye was poor against Valuev, but he did (eventually) demonstrate yet again that he has some serious power. Hopkins can eat up the best shots of guys his own size, but the fist of a 16 stone man thudding into the jaw of a 44 year old man who weighs about 185lbs can only mean one thing, and it would be a tragedy if it happened.

 

You'll have to look a bit closer to home, matey.

 

Was Audley Harrison ever in the top ten? In British tounges, Haye showed no bottle at all vs. Valuev. He ran hardly throwing any punches, and IMO he chose to box this way to protect his suspect chin.

Bingo. Haye is a wobbly chinned **** too.

 

I have seen Wlad take hard blows from the likes of Sam Peter and win the fight. By no means does Wlad have a good chin, but its much more tested than Haye's is at heavy.

Haye is a all talk no action. He would not even meet Skeleton, and of course he bolted from both Klitschko fights.

 

Hopkins has a chance.

 

I was a bit of a Haye fan before he fought Valuev. Not because I rated his boxing abilities much, but because he usually provides a fast, exciting fight with a KO finish and because I think he comes across as quite intelligent and articulate in interviews (when he isn't being purposefully obnoxious to publicize fights I mean).

But I've lost my affection for him after paying to watch that horror show against Valuev. I thought his performance was appalling. If I'd paid to go to Germany for that, I'd have tried to assassinate him afterwards. What a load of old ****.

 

Skeleton?

 

Hopkins probably does have a chance, but if I was laying out the gameplan for Haye, it would be pretty simple and easy for him to carry out considering Hopkins abilities in his old age. Make the ****er move and work for every minute of every round and Haye should have enough speed and chin to get that done against a 45 year old light hitting middleweight. He certainly did enough moving against Valueav to prove that part of it.
