Now that Calzaghes legacy is falling apart, will he feel the urge to come back?

good comment, it so laughable that his opponents are retrospectively compared. his record can only be questioned by what it was at the time and the immediate aftermath. even kessler ward is nonsense really as a detraction, styles make fights and i bet anything calzaghe would take ward too, quite easily but that doesnt take away from the fact that late in his career when he was well on the decline calzaghe beat everyone in immediate competition with him. actually reverse calzaghe by 10 years from that point and he was a much better fighter (admittedly protected) but still.

No. That level of shotness Jones had in that fight was more than he had in the Calzaghe fight.

    What formula are you using?

    Stop screwing with the scale.

I'd like to see him come back. I'd like to see what would do against the like of Ward, Abraham, Bute, Pavlik, Froch, etc..... A few tune ups and then go at it. I think it would be more of a measure of his abilities than his current resume, which I do view as lacking. That being said, he is not the bum his detractors call him, but nor is he the ATG his fans would have you believe either. While 46-0 is a terrific accomplishment, he went largely untested(regardless whether he was at fault or not). What are universally viewed as his biggest 3 fights.....don't kid yourself, Hopkins and Jones were years removed from their best days by the time JC fought them......and Kessler, which was a good win at the time, was seen as someone with an equally thin resume. While I don't think Calzaghe should be held solely at fault for the lack of career defining wins, (he did try to get some going it seems before settling in and being a home fighter), right or wrong, he seems to take the brunt of the criticism. I like his tools and its a shame his hands became brittle, because he probably would still be fighting.

How could he possibly have the energy after 47 fights?
