Briggs is always dangerous unless you can box, he has become an awesome counter puncher which makes it dangerous to go after him, but you have to go after him to expose his horrible stamina, I think he would still beat guys like Maskeav who are robotic and there to be hit
of course, but unlike when he was young when he would come out swinging like a maniac, he is now much more patient and crafty, never wasting energy
Oh, no doubt about that. I wasn't even commenting on what you wrote, per se. Just mentioning he is still a formidable foe. Shannon's actually a really nice guy. I chatted with him briefly after the fight tonight. When the card ended, he was down in the lobby area signing autographs, chatting with fans, and taking pictures with them. In my book, that makes him one of the good guys. :good
i always follow his career, he doesnt have the desire to get his weight down it seems but he has had some high profile fights im sure he is cashed up still
He looked pretty good. It would definitely serve him well to lose some more weight, but keep in mind, Shannon lost 85 pounds for this fight. 85 pounds! Granted, he probably should never have allowed himself to get that out of shape, but that he did, he at least seems serious about getting back and giving it a serious go.
Wake up, this was another century anyway. I like Briggs, but his only good win in last 10 years was lucky punch against Lyakovich. Otherwise he was not able to win with any semi-decent opponent he met. Not that there were many of them anyway - apart from Ibragimov, McCline, Fields, or Botha I do not see anyone. Still, best luck to him.
his ko versus lyakovich were perfectly timed counters, but we should face the fact that briggs will never be as dedicated as he should be, but he is still good enough to be in some big time fights
He's still too heavy. But Briggs deserves credit for this - unlike too many, he knows the simple equation for building up chances of a title shot. Fight often, get knockouts and publicize it. You don't even need to be fighting good comp, just stack 'em up and knock 'em over and eventually a promoter will take interest in that. Too many guys seem to want to back their way into title shots with points decisions and three-times-a-year efforts.
OK Being a part of his team and seeing how much he's stepped his game up and has his stamina in check, We see him going a long way. I was right there last night ringside ( Black Suit/ gold Marine Corps pin) filming for him personally. And I had my other photographer filming from another angle. I will upload these videos one I get back home. You will see that he is sturdy, focused, and does not lack stamina like most of you think going off what you've seen in the past. And You guys missed one hell of an after party.
