It really sounds like some people are equating "charismatic" with "intimidating".

It's Ali. How he pulled it off given a number of his personal short-comings is just testament to how strong his charisma was: he won over the world in spite of himself.

DLH was a crossover star, but Ali captured the globe and has done so long after retirement, which Oscar won't.

Tyson was a car accident with enough blood on the pavement to draw a great deal of attention and lots of photographers. Prompting morbid fascination is not the same as charisma.

    Are you all kidding??
Ali is the most charismatic boxer by a billion miles.
    The dude was funny/witty/sharp/outspoken/intelligent/poetic/
He was the most loved and hated athlete in the history of sports.
He had more charisma at 19 than most boxers do by the time they are 35 and seasoned pros.

Oscar could be more global than Ali if he decides to. He has massive amounts of money and his own promotional company, and still under 40.

Ali. No one else is even close. Tyson is actually a fascinating personality, more so than Ali, but Ali was the most charismatic athlete ever. " The King Of The World" and all that. The right man in the right place at the right time with the right stuff. It was fun to watch.

Ray Robinson was charismatic. Dempsey, too. Cerdan in Europe. Monzon was a dashing figure in his day, but not very popular in the U.S. Foreman was one of the least charismatic fighters his first time around, but became a fairly charismatic figure during his comeback. That's a pretty neat trick.
