Fellas, Back in 1996, 45 year old Roberto Duran at 157 pounds fought an epic battle against a 34 year old Hector Camacho who scaled an even 160 in a PPV bout... In the early going, Camacho got off with quicker punches against the stronger Duran.... But by round # 5, Duran had turned things around and began unloading big right hands on the face and head of Camacho.... After 12 rds were up, I thought Duran deserved the nod... I was furious when Camacho was announced the winner..... In fact, I still haven't gotten over that decision...... :twisted:atsch:shock: However, by 2001, in Colorado, it was obvious that Roberto Duran was age 50 and much softer at a weight of 164 pounds...... In this particular fight, Camacho clearly was too spry and fast for the lethargic Duran..... I am still happy that Duran hung tuff, but age and time had finally caught up tp him........ Hector Camacho was still a youthful 39 in 2001..... bbb Any thoughts?:huh MR.BILL:hi:
:tongdeal:fireRoberto Duran CLEARLY was butt-reamed from the judges....... It was for the making of a fight between "Leonard and Camacho." The public in 1996 wanted Leonard back in action. Why? Because of money.. It was business........ STILL! Everyone who witnessed the "Duran-Camacho" fight of '96, knows goddamn well that Duran beat Camacho's ass on that night....... The decision was utterly bogus........ Peace... MR.BILL:rasta:admin:scaredas:atsch

Peace... MR.BILL NOTE: I know damn well that Duran lost on points in the 2001 rematch........ But Duran was still a force for Camacho at age 50.........
I always thought the first Camacho fight may have been Duran's best peformance post-Barkley. Or at least one of the best, and earned the decision.
Duran really beat Camacho in 1996 without a doubt..... I also thought Duran COULD'VE gotten the nod over Paz in 1994........... BUT! Duran clearly was sluggish in both of the rematches of 1995 & 2001.......... MR.BILL
Duran's last really good win was over Jorge Castro in 1997 down in Panama... But Duran really never had any business fighting at weights of 161 to 168 pounds...... Every pound above 160 caused Duran to look soft and thick in the girth area....... MR.BILL
The Duran Camacho fight was a big time robbery, I never saw the second one though and I dont care too.........Because Duran is my AT favorite. 1st Paz fight could have gone either way but just to goes to show you that a younger Duran would have raped Vinne!
The '96 robbery loss to Camacho was a "Political and Economical" ass screwing............ NOBODY wanted to see "Leonard-Duran 4" in 1997, but "Leonard-Camacho" seemed feesible....... But yes, Duran edged Camacho in 1996 on my card........ I was livid when Camacho got the nod by the three blind mice......... MR.BILL
I'm sober tonight......... No real boxing this week that pleases me....... "Williams-Martinez" is a yawner........... I want "Klit-Johnson" next week.... GO KLIT!! :bbb MR.BILL Raleigh--SUCKS!
I wonder if Duran would've gotten "even" with Leonard in 1997. He still had something left against Camacho and Jorge Castro but fights especially with the latter seemed to take it out of him. Those were tough, tough fights for a 47 year old man to have.
I too, have and like Duran's two 1997 wars with Jorge Castro, but I never liked Duran at 165 to 168 pounds. When Duran was up over 160 he looked rotund and thick in the strike-zone area.. However, through the 1990s, Super-Middle was home for the aging Duran... I loved Duran at 157 for Camacho in 1996. Duran's body tone was there and his speed looked pretty impressive for a vato age 45. Yes, Duran started slow against the 160 lb. Camacho but, by round 5, Duran was heated and putting the pain on Camacho.. It was a great effort for Duran who ended up gettin' dicked on the cards by politically incorrect judges seeking to lure SRL back into the ring... ARGH! NOW! Again, Duran was age 50 in 2001 and somewhere at 164 pounds and slowed, yet still strong to go 12 decent rds with a slower than normal 39 year old Camacho in Colorado... Camacho won on points... I'm kool there... MR.BILL:hat
Same characters posting here and more believe Duran deserved the nod against Hagler. Was way up on the cards in Leonard II when he quit himself(wasnt made to), needed a poo vs Hearns and Montreal version would've whopped that ass. Sims and Laing could've gone either way, and he didnt train. Greener than baby **** vs DeJesus I. Beats Chris Eubank, Nigel Benn, James Toney(unproven) and Mike McCallum at Middleweight, which to me says he'd pretty much beat everyone but a small handful of Middweights in history.
