Depends. If PBF goes on to retire undefeated, he will no doubt be considered the greater fighter. Should he outpoint Pac and then loose to mosley...that will take a huge blow to his legacy, ultimately Pac will be rated higher in the end.

Well, let me put it this way: Pacquiao is an all-time great on the scale of many people having him inside their Top 30 (out of curiousity, where do you rank him?). Pacquiao has demonstrated that he is a force at Welterweight. If Floyd beats Pacquiao, Floyd is beating a top-30 all-time great at a weight at which he is comfortable and strong. The win over Pacquiao itself would improve Floyd's standings, and the loss for Pacquiao itself sure isn't going to help Pacquiao's... and the fashion in which it happens counts also. Pacquiao's record to this point does not have him leaps and bounds above Floyd to the degree where he's already cemented above Floyd or unreachable. If Floyd gets a dominant win over Pacquiao, I don't see why Pacquiao would still be ranked higher.

Manny has to eat 7000 calories a day to just maintain weight and you think he's a natural welter?

If Mayweather loses to Pacquiao, Pacquiao catapults in the all-time rankings, as I see it. I'm not going to have any excuses if Mayweather loses. Mayweather is undefeated, coming off a tremendous performance, and it would be a legendary win on a par with Duran over Leonard.

to the op so should they even fight in your opinion? if this does nothing for floyd why should they fight?

your apparent dislike for anything floyd does is disgusting and so much to the point that you are now saying that the biggest fight to come in recent history i basically pointless.

because it makes more sense for the sake of argument and pumping their guy up.

neither is a natural welter. both are small in comparison to quite a few welters.

Why do people keep quoting this 7000 calorie diet? Is Pacquiao the only athlete that eats a lot during training? Why does this keep getting brought up? I'm sure Floyd has a high calorie intake during his training as well, as he is known to have one of the most gruelling training camps of anyone.

ALL PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES EAT A LOT. Food = Energy. This is why often after their careers, athletes are commonly seen to balloon to very heavy weights. During their careers they eat a lot and those habits remain even after they stop training.

Nazim Richardson' s recent interview should've put an end to most of these arguments.

Most boxers eat around 3000, or MAYBE 4000 calories a day, especially in the lower weight divisions. Google it if you don't believe me.

I don't really rank atgs but I have Pac below guys like Armstrong, Ali, SRR, and above guys like RJJ, Chavez, Arguello. So I guess would be along the lines of guys like Whitaker, Hagler, etc. While I rank Floyd behind RJJ, Chavez, Arguello but ahead of Hopkins, Oscar, Mosley, etc. so about along the same lines as Holyfied I guess.

I would have Pac about 10-20, Floyd about 30-40. But I haven't put much thought into it.

I dont think beating Pac at 147 makes Floyd a better fighter than Pac.

I didn't create this thread because I'm scared of Pacquiao losing. Just to start a discussion about each fighters legacy and how it will rise and fall after the fight. It interests me.

You mention that Mayweather fans don't have excuses...you're having a laugh if you think that they won't mention steroids, should their man get stopped. They will do. Not all but many and a lot will think it. They already have.

Given he was probably draining down from around 140lbs in the ring against MAB/Marquez and bigger than both in the ring? Yes he was to an extent

Has Pacquaio ever been the smaller man in the ring? He was even weighing in at 144lbs while he was a 130lber

    It will be close.

Depends where the person you are talking to has Pac ranked all time right now.
