Who's the most charismatic boxer of all time?

    Both Tyson and Hearns had that special, indefinable aura about them, that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

    Ali was a loud mouthed braggart who tried to belittle fellow pro's before, during and after combat.

    Sure, he was good copy, but to me, Tyson exuded a quiet but terrifying menace never before seen - or since - in the boxing world. He made Liston and Foreman look positively cheery.

    Yet he could be as softly spoken - almost gentle - outside of the ring, as he could be ferocious inside the ropes, but still maintaining his charismatic demeanor, albeit in a completely different fashion.

    And that's why he still attracts huge crowds wherever he appears in public to this day.

    Mighty Mike. The most fearsome fighter in his prime of all time. Bar none.

    Hard to pick. Ali was 5 times the mouth Mayweather is today, but he pretty much backed up what he said. Had he been around today without the turmoil and raciness of the 60's, it's him hands down. No doubt Sugar Ray Leonard and his protege Oscar of course, more people than the usual boxing fan were interested in them as many are with Manny Pacquiao today. On a smaller scale, but as great as any of these fighters I mentioned has to be Aaron "The Hawk" Pryor. He knew how to pump up a crowd before a fight and have them on the edge of their seats during a fight. When he'd yell "What time is it?" you knew it was "Hawk Time!" Of course, his charisma was viewed negatively at times because he did clown around at times, but the man entertained like no one else!

    OK, I know i'm going to cop a huge amount of **** for this, but Frank Bruno deserves an honorable mention.

    Obviously not in the same league's as the Duran's, Ali's and Dela Hoya's of the world, but his charisma won over many people, certainly within the uk. Let's face it, his boxing was nothing to write home about, so to be loved by so many people the guy had to have something - I believe his popularity was based more on his personality than his ability, so that makes him pretty charismatic in my book.

    It's a no brainer...Muhammad Ali is the Elvis Presley of boxing..

    I can't think of a bigger star in the history of the sport.

    Beeing asked what fear is, Max Baer, former world heavyweight champion answered: "Standing in the opposite corner of Joe Louis, knowing he wants to go home early."

    Johnson, Dempsey, Louis, Liston, Foreman were all more intimidating than Tyson.

    Frank Bruno was a dim witted buffoon, who,inexplicably was taken to the hearts of the British public, who no doubt took pity on his complete lack of charisma, but even they grew weary of his tiresome 'where's 'arry' and 'Black 'n' Decker' references, over and over again, before he finally overcame the plodding and one dimensional 'Atomic Bull,' at the umpteenth time of asking.
    Bruno is surely living proof that, if you have the right 'connections,' anything is possible, particularly in the murky world of boxing politics.
    Just ask JC Chavez jr....
