He was ranked highly on consistency, and his ability to remain effective at higher weights. He dominated Winky, albeit an inactive version, defeated Margarito, formerly considered the best at 147lbs until Mosley got to him, and he blew out Quintana inside a single round. His ranking was justified, but what we saw tonight was to world class operators facing one another. When that happens, unless your Manny Pacquiao, it's going to be an extremely tough, competitive fight.

I still have him ranked in the top 10. Martinez is very underrated and gives anyone from 154-160 hell.

to be honest. If the clottey williams fight actually came off, it would be close. Clottey and Martinez have a similar talent level. Clottey did much better in losing to margarito (he was beating him before he broke his hand), he also lost a razor thin decision to cotto. Does that make him a level below martinez?? How? please explain instead of just talking ****....

I don't see how saying that makes him ******ed. He is entitled to his opinion and it depends on what your definition of an A level fighter is. Now if someone were to say that Pac or Mayweather were B level fighters I would agree that they were ******ed.

In my judgment, Martinez beats everyone at 154-160lbs.

A top 3-5 ranking was always based more on potential than actual accomplishments from a guy who won 1 legitimate title. He also lost a fight to the guy who Miguel Cotto, who was a P4P fighter, destroyed in Quintana. That's not elite P4P consistency. Paul's exciting as hell- but if under any immediate circumstances he's considered the best P4P fighter in the entire sport of boxing, that is indeed overrating him. And that's exactly how high people have began ranking him.

There is and was no justification for a rating that high other than people giving him credit for what they believed he could do moreso than what he had actually done to that point.

Like I said, it's too much, too soon. And that kind of thing creates backlash towards a fighter that Williams himself doesn't deserve.

I always said Williams was over rated! Martinez won the fight but I knew they would give it to Pitter Pat Williams because it went the distance in the U.S. & Martinez is from Argentina:patsch

The most avoided fighter! Ha Ha Ha:rofl

Not really. 154lbs and 160lbs is lacking in talent, to be honest.
