Itv staying with boxing

Heard that they got over 650,000 viewers for darren barker any1 know if that is true?

 

ITV would be a smart move for the next Haye fight. It wont generate as much general interest than the Valuev fight so less PPV money.

Then get either Vit or Wlad on PPV after that.

 

Hope this is on ITV4.

Was expecting it to be on Primetime or that Omnisport website

 

boxing has made a real comeback in the general sports media and public consciousness in the last year mainly due to mayweather, pacman, haye so it makes sense for itv to stay in but they need some major changes for me to make it a better event



why cant itv say basically we have X slots available per year and put them out to tender to promoters. this would change the quality of their cards in a second. then the added incentive for itv and a promoter is that itv retains a veto on the main undercard fight (which due to the way the ufc has about 4 tv live bouts per show that people all care about is way more important now) so if a particular fighter is in high public demand thy can co-headline regardless of their promoter not being involved. there should always be 2 meaningful title fights on each show too

no, hbo do it. i would assume they have a estimated budget for each year for boxing and then only get involved in top british boxers dividing it according to the value of the fights, for example they have 8 shows on itv1 saturday night 10pm primetime. they then put it out there to promoters and say waren says he wants the 1st and 6th show, maloney the 3rd and 7th and so on. promoters would use their top fighters (perhaps warrens ppv aside) on their given show in meaningful fights

 

ITV have a good production. It's the promoters who aren't putting on the best cards they can.

Plus ITV's advertising is ****ing awful. Something like Froch vs Pascal should've been HUGE.

Haye vs Ruiz on ITV would be good.

Great to see Khan, Froch, Haye etc looking to replace Hatton, Calzaghe etc I was worried for a moment. Most of our prospects at present look terrible.

 

Haye showed he's got an eye for the long term by agreeing to take hardly anything for the Klit fight(s). Defending on ITV might not earn him as much as PPV would, but the commercial spin-offs of fighting on terrestrial would be massive.

 

Being on ITV would be good for Haye in the long run, build him a nice fan base.

 

No way ITV could get the Haye Ruiz fight.

If as is rumoured Haye got £5 for every PPV sold on Sky for the Valuev fight and they sold in or around the 1m mark ITV are going to have to poney up alot and they just don't have that sort of money.

 

from Skys point of view, would they let Haye fight on iTV? i don't think it would do them much harm as a one off. massive exposure, and the chance to get a lot of people watching. then back onto PPV for the next fight. a good job all round.

 

ITV ****ed up by moving the boxing onto ITV4 what a waste instead of showing boxing at 10 on Saturday night they show some **** movie a waste. If they showed even all of Hennessy fights on ITV 1 they would of got more viewers than what they get on ITV4. Casual fight fans will watch any live fight on the main tv stations they wont be bothered about ITV4 when they show the fights the casuals will be happy with watching the movie instead or the singing and dancing shows. That has been the downfall ITV never took the risks and stuck to there guns and leave boxing on Saturday nights. Not as if there is a fight every week with Hennessy lucky to have 1 every month. But not for main tv they are too interested in the soaps imagine the uproar if they took Corrie off there would be murder from the soap fans.

 

they need to get a boxing magaizne show on there..boxing with Bunce or something.

 

Great news if ITV are sticking with boxing, but I'd be gobsmacked if Haye-Ruiz is on there and not on Sky Box Office
