on the site that hypes fights. Seems as if Toney has finally woken up. He should forget about the Klitschkos and Hopkins for a moment, these are fights that just won't happen right now. He can't simply talk himself into a title-shot, no, he has to work his fat ass back to the top first. He has to prove us he has something left. A fight with Arreola would make a lot of sense for both guys. A good cross-road fight, we'd see if 41 year old Toney really has something left (now that he is in decent shape for once) or if he's totally shot indeed, and if Arreola can come back after his beating at the hands of Vitali (his fight with Minto didn't prove ****). I fear their promoter Dan Goossen won't let the fight happen. Arreola is still his 'baby', and he won't risk his baby against Toney. Because there are too many question marks about Toney - he could still turn back the clock one last time and outbox Arreola. Dan Goossen seems to have forgotten that James Tomey saved his company six years ago, when Toney was the only successfull fighter at Goossen Tutor promotions - Goossen has other stars now, like Andre Ward, Paul Williams, Eddie Chambers, but he should give Toney that one last chance and make Arreola-Toney happen. The fight would draw a big audience in Cali. James Toney deserves this.
He wants Arreola to join him in burger king. How ironic, from calling out both Klitschkos over a million times and calling them bitches who are scared of him to calling out and losing to their leftovers.
That would be a superbly screwed up but not implausible event if Toney fought and defeated Arreola. Then a circus would ensue and a lot of us would just laugh our asses off. So much comedic potential here.
If Toney has anything left then he should take him to school. Would be an interesting fight and press conference.
Potential Promotional Slogans: Fat or Fatter Survival Of The Fattest The Fatter They Are The Harder They Fall The Meal Deal The Eat Is On
Toney seems to wake up as he blames, for the first time, his current promoter Dan Goossen for his state of inactivity. Here is an interesting quote from that report: Toney: "We have the same promoter, so it should not be a problem to make this fight happen, Toney*Arreola ASAP!" The original writer then goes on and thinks Goossen might be protecting Arreola from Toney. In contrast, a promotional company like Top Rank is not shy of matching their own fighters and gives the fans what they want to see it. Exactly my thoughts, too.
Toney wins UD if he fights Arreola. No one can KO Toney, so he wouldnt go anywhere during the fight. But Toney is still one of the greatest skilled boxers of his era and with as little boxing skill as Arreola has, can easily see Toney schooling him and taking a decision.
