I am extremely impressed with Martinez as a fighter. I am just curious why more people aren't real hardcore fans of his. He has quickness, power, and a fan-friendly style. Plus he's confident and vocal. I don't understand why he doesn't more hardcore fans here, or a larger fanbase. Nonetheless, I had a great weekend, especially after such a grueling an exciting fight. Just glad my boy came out with the "W"

Anyway, there are a few things that really stood out in my mind.

#1 - I scored the fight 115-113 Williams. Although I am obviously extremely biased, I feel pretty strongly about my scoring. I wouldn't have been too shocked to see it 115-113 the other way, or 114-114. I really hate the fact that one judge scored it 119-110, because it really had many people focusing on that score rather than on the fact that P won a really difficult, close fight against an extremely underrated fighter.

#2 - Did I mention that Martinez is extremely underrated?

#3 - I know BooRadley and Hermit and the rest of the MethCrew won't agree, but I think Williams took the harder fight, considering the fact that Williams had to prepare tactically against a more experienced, polished boxer in Martinez, rather than prepare physically, (strength and stamina) for Kelly Pavlik.

#4 - There is a reason Martinez-Pavlik hasn't happened yet. Haven't I read somewhere that he has tried to fight Pav? He will whip Pav's ass. No doubt in my mind. None. (New thread coming on this)

#5 - If Paul wasn't so well conditioned, he would have lost the fight terribly. While he was far from technically sound in the fight, no one can question that he was well-conditioned, and was able to press the action after martinez grew more and more tired.

#6 - After the weigh-in I took a friend of mine to meet George Peterson, and my boy said "So Mr. Peterson, we should be in and out of there in a few rounds, right?" and Pete replied "...:nono

" To me, this says a lot about how much respect everyone had for Martinez.

#7 - Did I mention how underrated Martinez is?

#8 - Atlantic City has a lot of hookers disguised as regular women. And they don't really dress like hookers. You talk to some chick and you think you gettin somewhere and then she hits you with the "business"... I was like "Damn! Are there any normal chicks in here?" :fire

Pictures of everything coming as soon as I get my camera back from my Pops.

Where was Martinez always based? On style, looks and ability he does appear to have that cross over appeal?

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to understand that. The guy is from nowhere - a bloody Argentinian fighting out of fooking Spain of all countries! Of course he would be hailed a as second coming of a God if he were American - look what hype job they did with PW!

#1 - Martinez fights out of Oxnard, CA. So please stop with the anti-American bull****.

#2 - PW is 38-1... How is he such a hypejob? He may have hardcor fans on boxing sites and around the sport, but he is hardly a household name yet.

Good job NBA! i was there too Saturday night (section 102). My first time seeing PW fight live and I have to say it was definitely one of the best fights I have watched period!!! When PW hit the canvas my heart dropped along with him!! LOL!! But I knew he had the heart and courage to comeback!! AS a huge PW fan i scored it 115-113 PW but if it was a draw i wouldn't have been upset cause Martinez was a real challenge! When they scored the bout 119-110 I was one of the first to BOOO!! cause Martinez deserved more respect than that!!! I had to give Martinez a standing ovation behind his performance!!!

PS: Atlantic City does have alot of hookers walking around in plain clothes!! The undercovers tryin to get you undercovers!!!!

1 - are you just a dumbass or do you have a short memory? The guy is Argentinian and you can see that he has relocated to CA only this year. Before that he was in Spain...and completely ignored by fight writers...who mostly come from America, by the way

2 - Come on, he is a great fighter, but he is No3 at P4P at yahoo and in all other p4p list. I dont think the guy should be in top in any of the three division where he apparently fights (welter is almost out of question as he hasnt fought there for a while) because he hasn't beat any credible opponents (as mentioned, LMW and MW I'm talking about, Welter is anyway too stacked) let alone in P4P! If that is not hype job, I don't know what it is!

Listen man, we can agree that Martinez is a severely underrated fighter. If you want to turn that into some anti-American bull**** rant, that's fine with me. Have at it.

As far as Paul being overrated, he is 38-1, and has avenged his only loss. If you want to not consider him at 147, then fine. But the only reason he is not fighting there, where he is more comfortable, is because Margarito wouldn't rematch him (because of the arum-Goosen fued), then Shane and Cotto refused, along with Floyd. He may not be your favorite guy, but unless you are completely biased against him, you would see that he deserves to get at least one of these guys in the ring. How much longer does he have to fight until people say "He deserves a shot at one of the big boys" like everyone was ****ing crying about Margarito a couple of years ago?
