As this colossal fight seems set for March 13th were in no dought thats its going to reach the same pre-fight hype and expectations we have seen before with the likes of Mayweather Vs Del La Hoya , Paquiao Vs Del La Hoya and above all Del La Hoya Vs Hopkins which for me exceeding the most of all anticlimatic match up's of recent times. A question thats starting to loop around my sometimes pessimistic mind set is if this match up is going to build up to yet another anticlimax? Is this going to be yet another Pac Man domination with Mayweather hiding within his timid defenceisve shell, or are we going to see the master class of Mayweathers perfectly tuned boxing abilities over the span of the whole 12 rounds? Bob Arum seems content in just one Press Conference to cover this fight of the decade, I wonder if this same pessimism has breached over his mind, or in most likely hood the chance to save up more money for a potentially phenomenal undercard. Which leads me to the question. What do you think can help feed the fire to this colossal match up? And maybe redeem the possibility of a anticlimatic fight. If I were to just mention 2 ontop of my head right now, I would love to see Amir Khan finally make his American debut somewhere on this Bill, maybe Vs Juan Manuel Marquez or Luis Castillo, yeap I know, shot or on the way to being shot fighters, but this would be considerably more interesting (then say a bigger step up in class against Zab Judah :verysad) with the bigger flock of fans and the showcase for Khan to really expell his impenetrable abilities. ( unless we still want to yapp on about his "pointy Chin" :verysad) and just another to close of this already too long disscussion, Bredis Prescott Vs Edwin Valero, need I say more. Peace!
i think it will happen.. roach wants it.. :good "´I would love for Amir to fight on the undercard of Manny's next fight. Amir would be ready by March, no problem, for another world title defense. There are a lot of big names for him now, here in Britain, and in the States. Juan Manuel Marquez is one, while Jose Luis Castillo is making a comeback and has told me he wants to fight Amir. The only guy I don't want him to fight is Manny and I want him to spar with him before Mayweather. Amir's speed is good for Manny and Amir is the only guy who can keep up with Manny in the gym. When they train, they are like machines." source
Could be a fun match up, I just cant see Hatton being ready by March tho Kevin Mitchell Vs Marquez I would like to see at some point.
One thing is sure though, Chavez Jr. will not be in the undercard and that alone already improved the quality of the undercard tenfold. Gamboa and Lara will be nice to be included in the undercard. This will be a sort of coming out party for those guys. Passing the baton to the future superstars.
How bout Amir v Prescott let that ****er avenge his loss already. People act like Khan didn't get KO'd:-(
Have to disagree. Will only happen if Warren wants it. As Khan is a headline act here in uk and is ppv on his own. I still think it will make sense to put him on the undercard and be good for boxing. Will also mean the fight will defo be ppv in uk.
Amir has gone to bigger and better things. Why take a big risk for little reward? To prove that he can beat a puncher? He could do that by fighting Maidaina and get some reward for it to. Think before you speak my friend
Think unless they make it $99 or 50 pounds in the uk some of you are getting a bit carried away with who u want on the undercard all that **** mentioned would be class but where will the money come from aif pac and floyd are getting paid so much. Would love it if they could get Valero on this card to give him more exposure against Prescott would be class dont think there would be much boxing on the outside going on. Khan v Judah would be good as well but the next best move for Khan would be to take on the winner of Peterson v Bardley to unify some belts or a fight with Ortiz would be good as well. Golden Boy and Top Rank have an oppurtunity to create more interest in the sport by putting on a good undercard because a lot of fans who dont give a **** as much as the hardcore boxing fans will be tuning in for the main event lets hope they have the foresight to impress casual fans with an exciting undercard that intrigues them enough about fighters other than pac and Floyd that has them coming back when the main event fighters are in involved in another event. It might be a case of the promoters losing a few dollars to make some more in the future but seen as they are greddy ****s wouldnt be suprised if the undercard is poor as usual
it's good for boxing and it's his ticket on US market... :good since almost all news abt Khan & Warren abt them planning to capture the US fanbase
Undercards in '09 are now basically "jumpoffs" for new talent to be showcased. The Don King mega cards of the 90's are long gone. (Sucks) Think Jacobs...
